'20 TN DE/LB Tyler Baron (UT SIGNEE)

Me too.. I miss the days when guys had pride in the school they represented. When they were loyal to their teammates, coaches and fans.
it’s why I’ve always thought college and even high school football were so much better than the nfl. There’s no difference now
Agree 💯 I’d say we’ve probably seen the best of college football. Hope I’m wrong but I don’t think so.

Realistically, is your father more important or thousands of fans who you don't even know. Baron has been 100% bought in from day one. This situation is very unique and it concerns feelings of loyalty to family. His head and heart are all Vol, but his heart is also loyal to his father. Life is sometimes bigger that this football team. Bigger than football in general. We need to step away from our orange fandom sometimes and remember that we are human beings, but maybe that's too much to ask.
This is good to know and good to keep in mind...

His father should help him navigate this issue. If Tyler has been treated fairly while at UT, and by all accounts he has, then his father should encourage him that one decision doesn't have to affect the other.

My question is how does the staff plan to replace him? We already wasn’t great at pass rush thins kind of sets us back if they don’t go get a decent pass rush your of the portal

Verse would be an immediate replacement, but with the hand wringing over in that thread, who knows what will happen there.

So what’s the story? You sound like you know exactly what has happened. Let’s hear it
His dad had been a loyal employee within the UTAD since Butch Jones. This was his eighth year with the program. Apparently, being loyal during the wrong administration (Pruitt) caused him to be relieved of his position at the conclusion of the investigation. He was one of, if not the only, remaining hold over from the Butch and Pruitt tenures. There is a rumor of him and RG getting into it over tough coaching. I seriously doubt that one. Patrick Abernathy is from the old school of football coaching. Anyway, there definitely would have to be some hard feelings from being let go. Especially, if his dad felt like he did his job above board and ended up being considered collateral damage in the Pruitt fall out. You can love your teammates and coaches, but still have negative feelings about a university that you feel treated your father unjustly. That doesn't make you a locker room cancer. That doesn't make you a traitor. It makes you human.

So you think he got fired for doing nothing wrong?

Everyone has to accept players have a bit more power than they used to and if we want to be good again we have to embrace it. Let a guy test the waters and realize he’s best off a Vol. In the end do we all wish they’d just never think about leaving? Sure but in today’s age that’s just not realistic for a roster of 85 18-22 year olds.

It wouldn’t suprise me if some were let go due to guilty by association but seems unlikely considering he was still on staff and then randomly decided in November…Swain and McKee made a good point this morning… KY really need Baron so bad that they are willing to overlook him stomping and dancing all over their logo….high ceiling talent but there is some desperation there to overlook that.

So they think there’s something to the kentucky rumors?

Yeah seems that way and they media is super cocky about it. I hope if he doesn’t change his mind and stay that he goes somewhere besides KY as it’s going to be disappointing to have a good kid become a villain in his home state

I said if he feels that way. There has been plenty of people that get caught up in following the direction or orders from bosses. They may not even be aware of being part of something nefarious at the time. That doesn't change the consequences after the fact. Everything in life isn't so black and white. There's a lot of gray that can be interpreted from varying points of view. Tyler's situation is an unfortunate side effect of a much bigger situation.

Yeah, most of us will never know exactly what happened. No excuse for going to a rival though

This is hypothetical, so don't start another internet rumor. But, if you felt you or your closest loved ones had been severely wronged by a business or organization (particularly, one you had shown complete loyalty to), would your first knee jerk response be revenge or pay back? You're looking at this as him betraying UT if he goes to KY. You're not even considering the possibility that he feels that his family has been betrayed. I feel bad for the kid. It's not an ideal position to be in. You may not even care. Most here pretend to care as long as they feel a kid contributes enough to Vol football on Saturdays. Truth comes out if the situation is anything but that.
