'19 TN DL Bill Norton

One could also ask about negative recruiting with Tray Scott. Scott was at Ole Miss with Hugh Freeze in the 2012-13 time frame. He also worked for Freeze while at Arkansas State. As you know, the 2013 class is when he signed the Tunsil, Treadwell, Nkemdiche class that was the corner stone of the NCAA case. One has to wornder if he learned the principles of Hugh Freeze recruiting while in Oxford and at Arkansas State.

I'm doubtful Pruitt used your approach with Norton. However I'm sure Pruitt made sure Norton understood that Rocker has a lot more coaching experience than Scott, including a stint in the NFL. All true.

Said no UGA fan, ever. Kirby's a good man, a good HC, and a good recruiter. His players love him. That's why so many seniors stayed last season rather than jumping to the NFL. You don't have to be a "snake oil salesman" and "dirty" to recruit at UGA. You just have to do what all of our other coaches since Vince Dooley haven't done, get the best players in the state to buy in and get some others from outside of Georgia to join in.

Nothing "dirty" about it. He's just doing his job well.

Are you serious..lol...ok nice talk

We have missed or missing on several kids both in-state and out in last cycle and this one. And some of the miserables claim Pruitt doesn’t understand he’s recruiting to a loser program that has been irrelevant for 10+ years. And some claim if he doesn’t figure it out, we can’t win until we get the #1 recruiting class. If we use Clemson as a case study, they didn’t recruit the top level kids until the last couple of years and Dabo has managed to take them to the top still. Just curious for the discussion between where Dabo was and has gone, compared to where Pruitt is and can possibly go?

I get that this is the Norton thread but he ain’t for us so we can use his thread for other stuff!!!!
Clemson took off because FSU went in the tank and nobody else stepped up in th ACC. It will never happen in the SEC. We will have to win lots of big games with inferior talent to break this cycle, or hire a rock star. We didn't get a rock star so there is only one path to glory for now. I personally do not believe this staff will turn it around and we are already on the countdown for another coaching search but we'll get a good four or five years of nega versus sunshine pumper while we wait.

I don't know. The 3 Star Millionaire thread was a doozy.

Can we kill this thread unless any worthwhile information or updates come up about the recruit?

I'm tired of seeing this pop up on the threads.

Easy now.......that ledge is real close.

FSU had a few bad (all winning records) under Bowden in the last few years, but "in the tank"......NO. Clemson was always a diamond in the rough program.

Probably going to take good bit of luck to catch up to GA. We just need to show some momentum for 2018. Bowl game. Easier said than done with tis schedule. We prob not even going to have enough OL to play a traditional spring game. Gotta cross our fingers and hope we find Kirby's bagman. Right now just keep pace with USCe and Florida on recruiting trail.

You are more right than you even know. Unless JP can coach his tail off this year I do not expect us to win maybe 5-6 games. We'll have loses to WV and probably UF (again) before :worship: Georgia stomps our asses in Athens. Au, Bama and USce are losses also. Heck, even KY and Vandy are toss ups at this point. SMDH................just SMDH.:mf_surrender:

Also..."never happen in the SEC"?

It's happened to EVERY team in the SEC since 1990 for at least a 2-5 yr run.

WV is no powerhouse. UF is breaking in a new coaching staff and they sucked almost as bad as us last year. SC, KY, Vandy, and Mizzou are all beatable with a semi competent coaching staff. We have a great coaching staff now so with the cupcakes (3) and 4 wins between the schools mentioned above, I see 7 or 8 wins. It could be as low as 6 but I don't see it. Our boys are going to be well coached and disciplined this year. Not the sloppy slaw we saw last year.

looking at rosters.. playing the Cocks is winnable.. Problem is going to be where they sit on the Schedule.. they are at the end of a murders row of 5 games. The schedule does Jeremy and Co.. no favors...

Been saying this since the schedule came out.

Does it ever?

Yeah at some point we really need to have a discussion about changing up our typical schedule. Somehow Bama, Florida, Georgia, and some of our other tougher opponents always end up being with a month or a month and a half of each other while we finish off with Vandy and Kentucky. Would really like to spread it out some more

In my opinion the swing games are Missouri and South Carolina. I would give the favor to both of them because they have stable QB situations. Our QB situation is the main concern of our season. I think we can beat WV but they have the advantage based off of consistency in their program.

I think Kentucky and Vandy should be wins due to talent level vs talent level. A good coach should be able to take our talent and beat those teams. I'd flip a quarter on the Florida game right now.

No way I pick us against Bama or Georgia. We always have a punchers chance here, but these would be huge upsets. Auburn is a tough game to have hope in. When Malhzan has a good QB hes dang tough to beat. The UCF game doesn't mean anything in my eyes. Auburn still has elite talent and super dangerous with a capable QB and strong running game.

Auburn return none of that run game, replace four starter o line, and that star qb is out for the spring, but yeah they are still a team that will be hard to beat, that's the sec or should be at least.

I’ve got Missouri last in the East and USC 2nd. AU is due a bad year, they normally don’t have good back to back years.

Hmm, a graduate assistant in 2012... Last I checked G.A.s are not on the recruiting trail. Good luck negatively recruiting that. And most of the guys he signed in this past class were 3 stars (the worst of UGA's entire haul). So, not sure he learned much from Freeze on how to pay for recruits.

Playing Auburn ...you have to start by looking at their D..that is what sets the tone...even when they don't have a Heisman trophy QB. Having Steele back is a luxury that they have not had in a while... continuity on the D staff.
