Bottom line is Kirby is snake oil salesman who has good results...this coming from uga friends......hes dirty negative recruits better than everyone but Saban and he pressures kids to commit. Dawg fans don't care about any of it as long as their winning....this is more about precious staff completely disrespecting he and his family by not even knowing they offered. Same with olineman last year....sometimes it's not ohhh uga so great as it is we crapped in our bed and now having to lay in it

"Another thing about them, they were real about everything. They basically told me straight up, they did not sugarcoat anything, they take lots of linebackers every year. When I get there I am going to have to work to start and get playing time. I plan on doing that anyway." -- 5* ILB Nakobe Dean after a recent visit to UGA

Doesn't sound like "snake oil" to me. We know from recruit's comments that Pruitt is selling being part of turning the program around and early playing time. Kirby is selling "Iron Sharpens Iron" and competing for playing time. Both are legitimate approaches to recruiting.

As for negative recruiting; I'm fine with it as long as it's based in truth. Saban being 66 years old is fair game IMO. Same can be said for Mark Richt's failure to win championships and tendency to field teams that under performed. IMO Pruitt didn't help his ability to recruit against Kirby by hiring Rocker. Rocker is a great guy, he is well liked by recruits and parents, has an expressive resume as a player, and has coached a long time, including a stint in the NFL. However he's susceptible to negative recruiting by Kirby and Georgia's DL coach Tray Scott.

As I mentioned in a previous post, Kirby retained Rocker after Richt was fired. Kirby fired Rocker after one season, and hired a DL coach that teaches the principles of Pete Jenkins, which is what Saban always did. The implication is that Kirby wasn't impressed with Rocker's teaching methods. Norton's HS coach just came out and said that Tray Scott was "first and foremost" in UGA sealing the deal with Norton. The reason? The DL coach at Christian Brothers is a Pete Jenkins guy and there was a comfort level.

Fans like you are the exact reason of why I hate the dawgs. I was born and raised in Georgia and always disliked them. My ex was a huge Vols fan and the only thing I kept out of that marriage was my becoming a fan of the Vols. Figured I might as well take something good from it. The dawgs fans are the worst fans of anyone around. I pull for anyone that plays them. I was pulling for Alabama in the NC but found myself feeling sorry for Chubb and Michel (our high school was actually the only high school that kept Chubb under 100 yards). But as soon as I started hearing UGA fans running their mouths, I was done with the sympathy. Why in the world do ya'll keep trolling other message boards...I guess to keep trying to make yourselves feel better because you choked.

I'm fine with it...As I mentioned in a previous post

:banghead2: Look, no one on this board, gives a crap what your opinions on your ON team are.

I think anyone on here with half a brain can see that Kirby is on a huge winning streak in recruiting.

But when it's all said and done, you guys lost the NC because of Kirby. All he had to do was keep running Michel, who could not be stopped. Yet, he kept running Chubb and let the freshman QB keep taking shots down the field, when screens to Michel was all you needed. Kirby still has a lot to learn about being a HC.

My point is, if your gonna come on a UT MESSAGE board and beat the dead horse, at least try not to be so dam snarky all the time. :banghead2:

That last paragraph is interesting and good info. Makes sense and if so, then should pass on spending much time with DL's that Georgia would want from Christian Brothers. Please read what I wrote and don't add to it. Just don't waste resources on DL guys that Georgia would want as well since the what they have been taught would be similar to what they have already learned. Comfort level with things such as this really make sense for a recruit and in this case seems like a good decision if that was what tipped the scales for the kid.

It was Kirby letting chaney do his thing.

We have missed or missing on several kids both in-state and out in last cycle and this one. And some of the miserables claim Pruitt doesn’t understand he’s recruiting to a loser program that has been irrelevant for 10+ years. And some claim if he doesn’t figure it out, we can’t win until we get the #1 recruiting class. If we use Clemson as a case study, they didn’t recruit the top level kids until the last couple of years and Dabo has managed to take them to the top still. Just curious for the discussion between where Dabo was and has gone, compared to where Pruitt is and can possibly go?

I get that this is the Norton thread but he ain’t for us so we can use his thread for other stuff!!!!

I think Clemson took off because Dabo obtained great assistant coaches and then landed a string of highly rated QBs who dominated in their system, one of which was the best player in college football in Watson. Great QB play can make or break you, just ask Bama, or look at us post Dobbs era.

I can't say that we will beat UGA this year, but I can say that it will be a totally different game from last year. Once kids see that we are competitive against a roster that is considerably better, then they will feel they are the missing links to get over the hump because the coaching is there. When you have kids who admit to the main reason for not picking Tennessee being the previous staff...just keep in mind the operative word being "previous"

One could also ask about negative recruiting with Tray Scott. Scott was at Ole Miss with Hugh Freeze in the 2012-13 time frame. He also worked for Freeze while at Arkansas State. As you know, the 2013 class is when he signed the Tunsil, Treadwell, Nkemdiche class that was the corner stone of the NCAA case. One has to wornder if he learned the principles of Hugh Freeze recruiting while in Oxford and at Arkansas State.

Never thought of it that way, but I see your point.
