'19 TN DL Bill Norton

To answer your question (since I'd already looked earlier) we usually have to recruit out of state to do well. My friend and I were comparing in state talent in Georgia and in Tennessee. UGA's three year running average of players being from in state is about 65%. Tennessee's is roughly 27.5%, with the lowest in the 3 being 2016 (13.04% or 3 out of 23 players).

That being said, the state has really begun producing more talent in recent years

2016: 0 5* 8 4*
2017: 3 5* 6 4*
2018: 1 5* 10 4*
2019: 0 5* 19 4* (subject to change)

I agree, TN HS talent has definitely gotten better and continues to do so. But I also think it's more important to recruit kids that fit what you wanna do over making sure they own their state. Supposedly Pruitt isn't as high on some of the instate recruits in this class as he is in the '20 class. Which is obvious by only highly recruiting certain instate players they like and not going all in on every highly rated TN recruit.

Dang Bill, we hardly knew ya.

I hope you enjoy selling all those cars after your playing days are over. :)

Bill Norton Chevy seems like a logical career path.

If I recall Georgia has among the most top 10 classes of any program in the country in that stretch.

Talent was never the issue at Georgia. They have a very high floor.

CMR never made it to the playoffs and coached a NC game. It's not that hard to have a top 10 recruiting class in one of the top 5 recruiting hot beds in the country. But you have to motivate them to want to win once they get on campus as well. Kirby does both better than CMR.

Richt also had to coach against Fulmer, Spurrier,Meyer,Holtz, James Franklin and even Pinkel in his tenure Coaching in the East. It's hard to say if Kirby does both better than Richt with one 10+ win season under his belt and only 2 yrs as a HC. Last yrs GA team was absolutely loaded and had experience and leadership all over the field. So far Kirby's East Coach's counterpart's have been Butch Jones, Jim McElwain, Odom,Muschamp, Mason and Stoops( Not named Bob). So Richt had it much harder in the East facing numerous National Championships Coach's year in and out compared to the East Coach's Kirby has encountered so far.

CMR so sucked as a coach.

Kirby will never be confused for being a good man. I was talking to some GA fans at Media Days a few yrs ago, Kirby's first year and most said he is a doucher. He walked by the GA fans many times and never once acknowledged them and they were pissed about it. He was more focused on talking to any media person he could find. Obviously winning can make you more tolerable but one thing Kirby isn't is a good man. I bleed orange but I know Fulmer was far from a good man himself but it was tolerable because he won and could recruit. He's definitely a good recruiter but so was Richt. It's very easy to recruit to GA, Richt did it very well but he never fully capitalized on the talent he had. Recruiting is a cutthroat part of college football and Kirby is doing it as well as anybody. He won with majority Richt players and tons of experience. I'll be curious what he does with his own players and much lesser experience. GA is the hot name right now and Kirby is taking advantage of it in recruiting. Pruitt will recruit well here and so will his staff. His players have always loved him and loved playing for him so I'm not worried about that part either. Hopefully JP can even the playing field with GA sooner than later and it will make for some great football games in the next few yrs, along with Fla.

Nephew manages a travel stop store in Crossville. Fulmer came in and talked to him for 30 minutes. Kid’s an Illini fan and says that CPF is the most down to earth person he’s ever met.

He F'n committed to Georgia today after his weekend visit to Tennessee????? WTF???

My guess is that was the plan all along. This one was over before he set foot on campus. There's plenty more just as good or better options with players we have more legitimate shots with.

I kinda doubt what you're saying as the truth. I've known Kirby for many years, dating back to his high school days, then his career at Valdosta St. and beyond. I grew up very near Kirby's home town. He's always been one of the most affable coaches I've ever seen. I was at the Rose Bowl and Kirby was riding in a golf cart on the way to the bus after the game. He was high-fiving fans all the way. A couple of times he had the driver stop and he got out to sigh autographs and hug certain people (it's on the UGA Rose Bowl video, so look it up if you doubt)

The other reason I doubt you is that you said "I was talking to some GA fans at Media Days a few yrs ago, Kirby's first year and most said he is a doucher." You do know that Kirby's only been at UGA for two seasons, right? Maybe you're confused. I'll venture to guess that I talk to many, many more UGA fans than you on a regular basis, and I've not heard anything near what you're saying.

Nice try though.

Well I know several former waitresses, who served Fulmer numerous times back when they were in HS and College (90's and early 2000's) and said he never once left a tip. And he was getting his food for free and was supposedly very rude on top of it. Throw in how he did Major's and numerous side chic's back in his coaching days on top of that. I know his players, for the most part loved him but he's always been Shady. But how many college football Coach's aren't? High character has never been a trait you have heard associated with Fulmer. But long as he was winning and now helping get us back to where we should be, I could care less about his character flaws.

I'm very aware of how long he's been there, that's why the words a few yrs ago during his first media days was used. I'm sorry if that wording confused you, but not sure how a few years ago at his first media days could have been more simplified. The word few is usually used to mean more than one and generally 2 or 3. I'm just saying what I witnessed personally and heard them say. They were also pissed because they had driven to Hoover for his first media day and he wouldn't acknowledge them or sign their 2 little boys GA helmets. I have no reason to say that if it didn't happen. Not every fan is besties with their HC and know them on a personal level you are claiming. I don't know Kirby or know much about him, but have even had Ala fans say he wasn't the most personable Coach or very fan friendly. I could care less if he's the nicest guy in the world or the biggest POS to ever Coach a game. But between the couple of pissed off GA fans at Media days and numerous Ala fans ( where he coached many years) not having the kindest words to describe him, I'll lean towards their opinions. Definitely not someone who has a personal relationship or atleast claims to have one. Now I have met Mark Richt at Media Days 7 or 8 yrs ago ad got his autograph. He was one of the nicest guys and took time to sign everyone's autograph that wanted one. Maybe you are confused about which one you have a long standing relationship with?? Maybe??

Nice Try though!

If you think Kirby's a "douche", you're really not going to like Pruitt very much. Ask around. (they've both coached at UGA)

I know Pruitt's reputation and yea he can be. But most Coach's are to some extent. But he's also got as good of a reputation as a football coach can have. He wasn't at GA long though. I definitely wouldn't put him up there as a great man either but again those Coach's are few and far between. He supposedly has enjoyed a side chic or 2 in his day but it's about Recruiting and winning.

Unless he completely shuts down his recruitment, this one is far from over. UGA gave him everything that he really wanted from UT. When we start winning the games that we're supposed to, and some that we weren't, we'll see a change in high level recruits. Plus it doesn't hurt that we're leading for the #1 player in the country right now. Go Vols!

Probably going to take good bit of luck to catch up to GA. We just need to show some momentum for 2018. Bowl game. Easier said than done with tis schedule. We prob not even going to have enough OL to play a traditional spring game. Gotta cross our fingers and hope we find Kirby's bagman. Right now just keep pace with USCe and Florida on recruiting trail.

Where's Mike Vick when you need him?
