With DT being hard to project from the high school level to college level what is the difference between Nolen and Kahlil McKenzie. There high school rankings are almost the same. I really don’t think it’s a big deal if he goes to A&M other than he is in state and moved to Knoxville.
Dexter Lawrence was ranked about the same and was great at Clemson and a 1st round draft pick at DT. Just because Kahlil didn’t pan out doesn’t mean nobody does. It’s a big deal, because we should be getting any all talent we can get
You can't coach size, and most have god given size and can run like a grizzly bear so they get high marks based on potential and the ability to dominate undersized HS kids. We've had some that panned out Henderson, Haynesworth (even a lazy Albert was better than 90%). Walter falls into that category of God given size and athetotic speed.I agree. Just never know how a DT will pan out. Just seems like the highly rated ones coming out high school by the recruiting services don’t live up to the ranking. Bresee looks like he has lived up to the ranking of being the #1 DT of his class.
Exactly,no need to get excited.Wait until recruiting season!Do y’all remember how Rodney Garner always had an elite DL prospect it seemed like every year that was trending somewhere else and he would swoop in last minute to land him? This is the one, but we are on the good side of this for a change.
Heupel has taken a team that had quitters (many who have left) and turned them into a gritty team that doesn't quit. Both sides of the ball have improved. Plenty to crow about to a recruit in my opinion. This is my opinion only, but I think the degree of rebuild, looming sanctions and our lack of NIL exposure is costing us.
I don't disagree, but we have little to no momentum with many/most big time recruits. The reasons I listed above are the biggest factors there.Heupel has taken a team that had quitters (many who have left) and turned them into a gritty team that doesn't quit. Both sides of the ball have improved. Plenty to crow about to a recruit in my opinion.
