A&M is such a weird place. Not sure why anyone would want to go there. Hard to put my finger on it just seems cultish.
It is for the fans. I don't think the fb team is really associated with all that. It's a big college town, insane facilities, big fanbase with a lot of connections. They also have a track record for developing DL and just beat Bama. I'm sure he's getting better NIL deals set up as well. It's not hard to see why a big time dlineman would want to go there.
I said months ago that teams with large financial NIL resources would be a threat to the existing football dynasties. I am looking at you, Alabama. This may be our first example.
With the new rules you are either going to have to build your own dynasty or stand by the wayside. These kids will no longer value the academics or tradition when money is on the line.
College athletics as we have known it is dead and it the main reason I am in favor of pushing this out into a farm league and letting colleges tend to education. Why are we prostituting our institutions and it’s resources against the purpose of their mission?
Are you the yell leader?
All kidding aside, UT can offer basically the same things sans a recent track record of sending to DL to NFL. We do have the best DL guru in Gardner.
Jimbo, imho, is a fraud. But hey, if Nolen wants to go get pumped up by a yell boy by all means.
May commit to A&M...Vol in the end, though, imo. The mere fact that we are into November and we even have a legit shot with him is a miracle and a testament to RG's recruiting genius. I wish he was a '23 kid. We were so behind in building relationships with the big time kids in this class. I was hoping we could pull him across the finish line. I realize it's not over, but it will still be tough to close.

I agree, even though cfb is the only sport I follow these days. It doesn't fit as part of any true system of higher education. Hasn't for a long time, but getting further afield by the year.
