Lol I thought you were about to drop some knowledge on us
I did a quick search and found Neilson ratings for cities in the US. It's pretty interesting. Knoxville is pretty low, below Atlanta, and Nashville. Quite a bit below Birmingham/Tuscaloosa. Suprisingly slightly below little Rock.

Knoxville is significantly higher than Gainesville, Columbia, and baton Rouge. Knoxville and Lexington are virtually tied.

Lol, I have no idea. Just remember a few years ago I was considering advertising on local TV and "we're in this many homes, covering these geographic areas" was a factor to consider. I'm sure that data is on the www.

I was hoping for an expansion on that. I do think it naive to think the Atlanta metro area is a pro sports-centric area and the pups do not matter. If you're Joe Car Dealer in Carrollton or Conyers or Cobb County, etc, a Heisman candidate JT Daniels may be worth more than a mercenary Falcons player who may be in some other city next year. Just saying...

Of my friends in the area, far, far more follow the pups than the birds.

Atlanta is definitely more pro team centered. I’m not saying uga doesn’t matter, they just have way more competition in their local market. Shoot, there’s a pretty big UT fanbase in Atlanta too

Just waiting to see how the social justice warriors are going to deal with this. If the football team is making out like bandits, I really wonder how it plays for the women if they see only a fraction of the NIL money. After all, there is a huge push for "equity" in pay between men and women among the SJWs and it plays well with the under 30 crowd. And it is about to run head first into a capitalism brick wall.
Yeah, equality of outcome is about to really be tested..

Big Ole Miss, GA Tech, Auburn, and prolly every SEC school.

But it’s the 6th largest market in the country. And while atlanta proper might be pro sports focused everything metro Atlanta is college.

Atlanta proper may be more pro centered (I doubt it frankly), but metro Atlanta is a whole different story. And while there are large fanbases for other schools in Atlanta, I would be surprised if the QB at Auburn is going to be featured prominently for NIL in Atlanta. Auburn may work in SW Georgia where there is a significant fan base.

Of course, I admit I may be misunderstanding NIL. COMPLETEY possible or even likely. However, if I'm the advertising manager for a retail business in metro Atlanta, my first choice is likely going to be a pup.

That might be your problem. The Atlanta market is pretty diluted and giving attention just to UGA athletes might turn off a huge portion of the marketable population. That would not be the case in cities like Knoxville, Lexington, Birmingham, Montgomery, Baton Rouge, Little Rock or Gainesville. You have very dominant fan bases in those towns that all sing the same tune.

I can see where a kid in one of those more concentrated markets would be more of a dominant figure and has better earning potential. Imagine if Reggie White or Peyton Manning had this kind of exposure in East Tennessee during their playing days. They were already megastars nationally but their financial value would have been very profitable for them and the Power T.

The beauty of this is we will all see and most likely be wrong about all of it.

Joe Scogin was on Doug Mathews several weeks back. He says UT is well prepared and had a plan solidly in place. If I remember right, he was leading the way on it too. If he’s a good at this as he is the academics, we should be fine.
Matthews was also Fulmer’s mouthpiece during his tenure as AD. it’s a sunshine pump show

I didn’t say Mathews said it. I said Joe Scogins said it. He’s considered one of the best at what he does with the academic side. Based on that I’d like to hope we might be well prepared.

I also wonder if players could have market opportunities in their hometowns rather than just the region, especially if they were a highly ranked recruit in an area that doesn’t produce much talent. An example being a guy like Darnell Wright sponsoring for a local business back in West Virginia. Or Jalin Hyatt doing a promotion for a local business in South Carolina

The home fan base might not see them going to an out of state school as a valuable perception. You think Gamecock fans are crazy about Hyatt showing out at UT?

Looks extremely prepared to me

Yep proof on who is prepared will show in long run. A lot of people talking a good game. Kids better be careful. Lots of opportunities for being scammed by businesses. Also some sneaky language in some of the laws in some states like Georgia

I don’t see why not as long as that state has passed laws allowing it.

My only real concern is how many people take adavantage of these kids and get them into deals/contracts with hidden language that connects them long term. And how much jealousy gets thrown around in locker rooms at those making big cash and slacking off like you see happen often I. Pros

Hopefully the schools will help the players in that regard.

Well we’re already seeing this, Latrell Bumphus did a promotion for a truck company in Savannah.

With NIL, your media market, size of the fanbase, and willingness of the fanbase to buy swag are going to be the drivers. If Vols fans want to be on the right side of the equation, they're going to have to show up and financially support the players who chose to market themselves.
Bingo....
