'22 TN DT Walter Nolen (Ole Miss)

Hearing that the NIL is a huge factor for Nolen. Will the UT pitch be in the right price range? Gonna need to be around 500k+ if we truly want him.
For a kid who has never played a down of college football??? That's insane!! I mean you are worth what the market says you are worth, but a half million dollars for a 17-18 year old kids is ridiculous to me.

I'd pay that for a Suh, Ngata, A. Donald, J. Henderson, Glenn Dorsey, Nick Fairley level impact DT, but not a kid who has never played a down.

That is concerning somewhat. Instead of focusing on development into a NFL player to possibly make tens of millions later, he's focusing on NIL money now? The step from high school to college is pretty big for most players. Focusing on the NIL money shouldnt be the primary thing or even close to it IMO.

Maybe he wants to go to a bowl game, or the playoffs. Sanctions would prevent that. Maybe he wants to play with a bunch of other great players. Scholarship reductions could prevent that.
Lots of reasons why a school facing sanctions would cause a player to look elsewhere.
Close down the program.

You didn’t like/want money when you were 18?

A bit of an overreaction from some on here. Of course the elite talents who have the potential to profit from their own NIL will take that into consideration when choosing where to spend their college careers. That doesn’t mean they aren’t also focused on their futures.

Thanks Rusty

Hell, I wanted basically any money when I was 18.

I’ve changed jobs 3 times in my career. All for less money than I was making at the time but a better long term opportunity. Each move worked out best for me & my family. Some people would never do that but you’ve got to see down the road instead of the secure position you are currently in. As Al Wilson said in 1998 “stay hungry”.

All the NIL is going to do is get rid of bagmen. There will be no need for a $180k donation to Scam’s dad’s church. They’ll just say ‘Here’s 200k to wear a branded T-shirt on your tiktok.’ This is just a legalization of all the bagmen stuff.

And, I wouldn’t give a high school kid half a million, but if bama and uga are gonna do it, what choice do we have?

Cam Newton received 250,000 to go to Auburn.

I think the fan negativity toward the sanctions are worse than the sanctions themselves. Every major program we compete against has gone through the same thing we have.

Have sanctions even been handed down? I haven’t seen where we’ve self imposed anything. I don’t expect the NCAA to get around to it for another couple of years. Don’t know what all the hysteria is about. These kids haven’t even been paying attention to UT because we’re a pretty forgettable football program right now and have been for about 15 years.

Auburn got no penalty bc they stood up for themselves.

Auburn got no penalty because they know how to play the game. They’ve had lots of experience. As long as Cam and his dad didn’t snitch then they knew the NCAA and SEC had nothing.

Pruitt wasn’t smart enough to keep it to a very small group of people.

The ncaa had proof that they were paid….. auburn fought and won claiming that the dad was paid and can was innocent….. tell me …. How that makes sense?
