Which, if true, is an absolute disaster. NIL is the single most important aspect of recruiting as of 7/1, and the word is our players are totally unprepared for it. Hope it’s not true
Joe Scogin was on Doug Mathews several weeks back. He says UT is well prepared and had a plan solidly in place. If I remember right, he was leading the way on it too. If he’s a good at this as he is the academics, we should be fine.

Heard the same interview. Hoping it wasn’t just talk.........

Have sanctions even been handed down? I haven’t seen where we’ve self imposed anything. I don’t expect the NCAA to get around to it for another couple of years. Don’t know what all the hysteria is about. These kids haven’t even been paying attention to UT because we’re a pretty forgettable football program right now and have been for about 15 years.
Is your avi Tom?

Yeah I have heard we are way behind UGA and many other SEC schools.
How could this be? UT should be one of the best in the country in terms of location and fan base for this. Somebody said yesterday that Georgia schools were going to have to share profits. If that’s true, wouldn’t that put uga waaaay behind the curve?
Everybody preaching doom and gloom, please show your work on this. I’d love to understand

Here is Knoxville’s population compared to other SEC cities. Nashville is disqualified because well, vandy… and they have the Titans and preds. This has to be a big factor when it’s all said and done, and Knoxville sitting near the top with a way bigger fan base than the majority (including uk football fans)

The Georgia law provides that a school may withhold part of NIL earnings to distribute to other athletes or something like that. However, UGA has already announced they will not do that; whatever an athlete earns is theirs to keep.

Yeah, no way that would fly. They’d be left in the dust

Knoxville has a much bigger metro population than the city census implies. With regards to the Vols, almost the entirety of east Tennessee can be considered the market.

However, Athens has the Atlanta metro area in their backyard and Tuscaloosa virtually the entire state of Alabama to draw on. That probably puts them as the top two in real potential market size, wouldn't you think?

No.. Atlanta’s pro teams take away from the uga appeal, as well as having tech in Atlanta. If you’re giving uga credit for Atlanta, UT should get credit for Nashville. Auburn is also in Alabama with a huge fanbase, taking a big chunk of Alabama

Just waiting to see how the social justice warriors are going to deal with this. If the football team is making out like bandits, I really wonder how it plays for the women if they see only a fraction of the NIL money. After all, there is a huge push for "equity" in pay between men and women among the SJWs and it plays well with the under 30 crowd. And it is about to run head first into a capitalism brick wall.

Free market.. put a better product on the field/court and win some fans over. There’s nothing unfair about this. Welcome to the real world, yungins

You really need to see viewing area population for the local network affiliate TV stations. Much better judgment of market size.

Lol, I have no idea. Just remember a few years ago I was considering advertising on local TV and "we're in this many homes, covering these geographic areas" was a factor to consider. I'm sure that data is on the www.
Lol I thought you were about to drop some knowledge on us
