I really don't get the love some Vol fans have for Lane Kiffin, who treated our program like a two bit whore. The "fahr Fulmer" crowd and Lane Kiffin are exactly who served us up this steaming turd of a football program we have been dealing with the last 10 years. They were the cause, Dooley and Botch were just effects.
I’m calling BS on your “Farh Fulmer “ crowd. They are not the cause or served us up this steaming turd.
It’s the AD’s UT presidents, Big Boosters that called the shots and hired Moe, Larry, and Curly all in a row.
They could’ve hired a competent football coach to replace Phil, but they wouldn’t know on if they tripped over and did trip over a few getting to Kiffin

Fulmer drove the program into the ditch. He had some great years but his performance and recruiting fell off sharply toward the end. It started trending down when Cut left the first time and Fulmer foolishly let loyalty cloud his choice for OC.

By the time Kiffin took over, UT had one legitimate DT. Even Fulmer said DT's were worth their weight in gold... but the good ones stopped listening to his pitch several years before. The OL wasn't any better. Kiffin ended up starting two walk ons and an undersized RS Fr with substance abuse issues. Kiffin ended up playing LB's that were so bad that they never saw meaningful PT afterwards.

Kiffin made matters worse. Dooley may have been able to handle a better situation... better. But he was nowhere close to being up to the challenge he inherited. Jones had the salesmanship to get some early recruiting success... but he was clueless as a football coach.

This all began with Fulmer getting complacent and being loyal to coaches and ways of doing things... while the game and competing coaches left him behind. The seminal statement in Fulmer's fall was when he said "We've won a lot of games around here doing what we're doing... and we ain't changing now". No person in any competitive profession can ever believe that and survive.

Yea, but just wait until I put it all together. You’ll understand.
