Got to be honest: I didn't really get that impression. Not to say he doesn't want to play here. I'm sure we'll make his top 10 in a few weeks. Just that a lot of his quotes sound like the cookie cutter standard quotes we hear from a lot recruits after a visit.

Like the article suggests, he's a long way off from narrowing down his schools, let alone making a decision.

yep, he had glowing reviews of Bama, OSU etc... as well.

i still don't think i've ever seen a quote from a recruit after a visit that said "man it sucked, it wasn't at all what i wanted it to be".:eek:lol:

Per VQ Chat on Monday the staff wants to see him at camp before they decide what kind of priority he will be. Sounds like just about every prospect in the state this year outside of 1 or 2 guys (Mitchell/Wilhoite).

i don't blame them for wanting to camp as many of these guys as possible.

i still think wilhoite, patterson and washington have spots if they want them.

Norton and Mitchell would too if they flipped.

Mitchell isn't committed anywhere, your thinking of Hampton.

Agreed. I actually like the philosophy. Make these guys earn their offer from the in-state school, instead of UT going begging for everyone like Butch did. Plus I don't believe this staff holds any biases. They just want to win and they are going to fill their roster with guys they believe are good enough. No more politics with recruiting.

I still think it's because the coaches aren't comfortable with the state yet. When they get comfortable they'll start handing out more scholarship offers

eh, i think there might be some of that, but talent is talent, and these guys have been evaluating players for years.

i don't think it matters what state the kid is in. i do think there's some relationships that can be built and developed with some of the schools in Memphis and the mid state that can benefit them going forward.

but really, we're never going to fill out a class with a ton of highly rated guys just from TN.

and there's going to be guys they like better out of state, over some of the higher rated guys in state, a la Otey and Knox.

i think what they'd like to be able to do, like they were able to do in Bama and GA and FL and LA....is go to those top 3-5 guys in state and just "get them". Norton should be a slam dunk. Mays should be slam dunk. no more von bell's or harrison smith's not only leaving the state, but leaving the region.

we're not there yet, but if we get wilhoite, that'll be i think 3-4 years in a row UT gets the top rated player in the state, so that's a good place to start.

I'm not going with newts slogan of "keep it in the state" I'm saying that they are all new to this state being apart of the school "every" Tennessee kid dreams of. So they hear a lot from in state coaches saying look at my kid. So they have to get used to sorting out the SEC caliber players. They could be weary of that so they want to see these kids up close

Are those the only two options?

If I list a third, I am sure Freak will be notifying me as to why my account has been suspended. I was asking about a camp due to the theory going around that Pruitt is wanting all the instate guys to camp before they can commit. I figured you would know.
