But what if you don't know what you want to do?You know, so many people said Akers "did it right" when it came to his recruiting because he was so secretive and kept his cards hidden. Akers had a few thousand posts. This kid knew what he wanted to do and did it. He wanted to be a Vol and he decided and didn't play for any drama. THAT is doing it right IMO. Gonna love watching him play on Saturdays.
I don't think Akers was dishonest. I think Hubbs and co read a little bit too much into the info they were given and gave fans hope. I would say most looking at the situation saw we had little to no chance. That's fine. But let's acknowledge that doing it right doesn't mean keeping everyone guessing. It means being honest with yourself and others.

I've been following recruiting for a while now (7 or so years) and I've recruited kids to a university. It's very clear that if a kid takes OVs, and your school isn't one, their shouldn't be hope. Hubbs and co should've known better. The staff member who told them he was confident just a day or two before his announcement should've known better. That's the vibe I got as well.
Shepherd was the only one of our guys on 247 who was willing to put in a CB pick for Akers to UT, the others always predicted FSU.
Then the day after Akers committed Brice got all butthurt about it and called it an upset because we had his mama in our corner.
Outnumber OL future is certainly bright. If we can keep them healthy and develop them, it should become a strength of the team in over the next 2-3 years.I've been following recruiting for a while now (7 or so years) and I've recruited kids to a university. They had more info than us and the glimmer of hope turned them mad to not see that he was probably going to FSU, and Tennessee wasn't even the backup choice.
It is what it is, it's all done with now.
On a thread related note, Cade is easily a top 10 type of player in the '18 class. Somehow we've had some good OL commit to us. Guys like Jones, Boulware, Smith, Richmond were wanted by the majority of SEC schools.

He was 6'5" as a freshman so if he has grown at all you almost have to put him at OT or else the QB won't be able to hit any crossing routes.
