Cade Mays has been committed to Tennessee since July 2015 and hasnt wavered on his decision, but other schools have continued to reach out to him in recent months.
To this point, he hasnt changed his tune when other teams have approached him.
I mean, Ive told them since my freshman year, Thanks, but no thanks, said Mays, a five-star junior offensive lineman from Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic High School whos the son of former Tennessee offensive lineman Kevin Mays. This is home for me.
Im not looking around or anything, so Im sticking to my roots, said Mays, whos ranked the nations No. 12 overall prospect and No. 2 offensive tackle and the No. 1 player from the state of Tennessee in the 247Sports Composite for the 2018 class.
While Mays already knew Wells before Mahoneys departure, he said he has enjoyed developing a closer relationship with Wells this month.
I knew him pretty well before, but now were definitely taking that next step and just getting to know each other on a more personal level, and him getting to know my family on a more personal level, Mays said. He texts me every day and we just have a conversation every day. Were definitely taking our relationship to the next level.
