'25 TN QB George MacIntyre (Tennessee commit)

New coach this year….

And, I hope GMac is a great QB at UT, but it’s sooooo nice seeing BA suck
Why the BA hate? Just curious. I didn't go but I got recruited there back in the 90's when they were winning championships..... Had a few friends who played there.

Because they weren’t supposed to be recruiting back in the 90s but they cheated and everybody knew it. I wish only good things for gmac but love seeing them go down.

Dude, all the private schools were doing it. CPA, BGA, Goodpasture, even David Lipscomb, etc. I got offered scholarships of varying degrees at every one of those schools. All were offering something. I won't defend it but they weren't the only dirty school, they were just better at it and in an area with a nice campus close to the players they were after.

Edit to add:

Despite the scholarships the cost and burden to my parents was too much. I ended up going to Apollo in middle school and effed my left knee up.. Came back at Antioch and screwed the other knee before playing one game. I was done.....

Two things can be true:
(1) it’s extraordinarily suspect that a “five star” qb can’t elevate his team to win in high school. BA had their worst season in school history last year, and then open the season with a loss this year. It’s unusual. Might not just be “the coaching” and George’s current ceiling might be much lower than we thought a year ago. He could be more of a project than previously thought. Which is ok
(2) yeah I trust heupel’s eval and I’m not losing sleep. Heupel’s Qb track record speaks for itself. George could come to UT as a three star and I believe Heupel could make him a productive SEC QB

You know George played 12 games last year and won 2 of them right? I’m not advocating everyone freaking out, but there is certainly enough evidence at this point to have questions
Question away as long as you have no expectations of their impact. This is Heupel’s QB in this class.

I did not watch, but how does one call his leadership into question? Based off of one game, which is what some have done. Legit question, not being argumentative?

That narrative is in direct conflict with what pundits have said about him. (Not sure coaches can opine yet).

I know this is a UT message board and we always lean into the side of optimism, myself included. But…I’m not using last nights game as a singular point in which I’m now questioning George.

I’m looking at last year plus last night. I have been a little surprised as his lack of ability to take over a game, make key plays in clutch moments, find ways to win.

I think the BA coach last year was garbage by the way.

As far as pundits, if you’re talking national recruiting guys go…most of them have dropped George from a top two or three QB to a top ten QB in the past few months. Overall ranking drop of anywhere from 50 to 100 overall spots depending on service.

I think George has all world physical talent, but when you don’t win questions will start to pile up.

I think his drop in rankings is warranted. Hope I’m wrong! Heupel is THE QB whisperer in college football so overall I have zero concerns about the position.

Plus, I think one of my favorite things about this staff, in addition to the culture, on field results, ability to connect with young men, a fun exciting brand of football…is that this staff knows how to evaluate talent. They are early on many of their evaluations and we have seen them succeed with guys who weren’t five star guys: Jaylen wright, Jalen Hyatt, Hendon Hooker, James Pearce, Dylan Sampson, etc etc.

I think Heup and staff are about a good of evaluators as there are out there right now

His drop was supposed to have been due to not attending camps.
