'25 TN QB George MacIntyre (Tennessee commit)

Nothing’s impossible, but he didn’t exactly have a Cafego journey. Played at the University of Miami and bounced around for 19 years…never staying longer than 3 seasons at any stop until Vandy. Peaked in 1982, but did get FIRED after 7 seasons. Obviously enjoyed the Nashville area, but we’ve witnessed their brand loyalty when taking over that stadium. At least he had a victory over the Vols…never beat Bama.

Thanks. Just never know how family history shakes out. Did not remember bad vibes with him like Dinardo and others who might not mention our name in pressers.

It’s just my opinion but I think getting Merklinger In itself was a home run. I love Nico, but Jake Is just a dog.
He's the whole package.
Nico is a 5 star and potentially great QB. Yet, I fully expect Merklinger to seriously push him for that spot come 2024.

Not picking a fight…lol…PLENTY of old men with egos here to fill that role. But what makes you feel that way? Give me a bullet point list please sir. I’ll hang up and listen…

Merklinger is quick inside and outside the pocket. Strong, accurate arm.

Plays with good energy. Meaning he doesn't stall his offense.
Plays smart football. Not a ton of turnovers and takes what the defense gives him.

Really good player. He'll play in almost every game freshman year in the cleanup time

Totally agree. Big MERK is the man. Big time commit..

I hope all our QBs stay healthy, but it's quite nice to have a QB like Merklinger there.

I wish he had the opportunity to compete in the Elite 11, but Heupel discouraged Nico to not attend it as well the year before. He had a volleyball championship anyway

Ty is a return to normal QB at Bama.
I mean he’s a game manager like several others who have played there.
He‘s not a Bryce Young by any stretch. Bama is taking a step back this year I believe I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose 3+ games
Game manager i can't agree with.
But the 3 + losses absolutely

I disagree with Merk challenging Nico in 2024 simply because of the number of reps Nico will get this year. They have to get him ready to play in case Joe gets injured. That gives Nico a huge advantage that has nothing to do with his natural talent advantage.

I took that into account.
If Joe gets hurt (God forbid) and Nico plays the whole season then you can forget it. It's Nico all the way at that point

Seriously challenging means that the starter has to come ready every practice and elevate his game to hold the backup off.

Heupel really didn't push for many QBs this cycle, because he wanted Merklinger the most.

I think I told you before that I love the Merklinger commitment, but when you say challenge, that means making it hard on the coaches to pick QB1. It's hard for me to see that happening next spring or fall.

Why did Merklinger go against CJH's advice then?
