'22 TN QB Ty Simpson (Alabama commit)

Usually just a lurker, but heard a cool rumor here. Ty has told people around Martin that a wealthy TN alumni/donor recently offered him a 1 million $ NIL deal to flip. Talk around town is that the coaching staff actually has made a hard push the last few weeks, and that Ty has listened.

Saban was in home to visit yesterday trying to lock things down. TIFWIW, but small town Martin’s turned up talking about it all.

I have heard the same rumors about the $1M NIL deals that UT has come up with for Simpson. Have been hearing that for several weeks now. Also, heard Simpson is not worried about what other QBs Alabama may bring in, including Arch Manning in 23. He feels as if he is good enough to beat any of them out. Gotta love that attitude.

I am still not completely sold on him being a difference maker in the SEC. Hard to judge since he has been playing against A and AA teams in NW Tennessee but, he also seems to have a good head on his shoulders and is ultra competitive. Being a coach's son also gives him a very good understanding of the game.

I guess Saban got in and out of Martin better than Gene Stallings did in the mid 1990s when he made an in home visit with Chad Clifton. Some of Clifton's friends heard Stallings was coming and while he was in the house visiting with Chad and his family, they used shoe polish to write, "THIS IS BIG ORANGE COUNTRY" across the windshield of Stallings rental car.

It's sad we can't keep the pipeline going with them. Having 3 guys come to UT from that small school is pretty remarkable.
