'22 TN QB Ty Simpson (Alabama commit)

Been slow to post but would prepare for bad news (not shocking now I know). Sanctions (or the unknown) are killing us. Our academic side cut our AD mortally. That and just massive massive turnover constantly.

Long way till Early Signing day

Long way till Early Signing day

Your not wrong. QBs are different in how often they flip. Just another one who should have been a slam dunk who we screwed ourself over.

We won’t have a shot until we do that with instate kids. We MUST string along a few classes of just keeping the top instate talent and we will be fine. We can’t do that now. May be a few years honestly.

Who's your guess, Bama or Clemson?

I really like how JH is building his staff. I think once the recruits see how they play this Fall, it will give them something substantial to lean on. I'm ready to be impressed with all the points we about to put up. And can't wait to see developments on the D especially the DL. I have been a huge harper on the DL since I been on here, knowing if we get That right then the D as a whole should be better. All starts up front with big dog's.

The thought process of it’s a long time till early signing period is not quite the same for QB’s. When a quality QB commits then that becomes the head of a recruiting class. There not so easy to sway once they start recruiting for the school there committed to. Not saying it can’t be done but it definitely is much tougher to overcome !

The top 2 QBs in the 2022 class have each already flipped once. kids these days, no loyalty. They all think it’s a “business decision”

Clemson Update

...
The next target slated to come off the board is Martin (Tenn.) Westview four-star quarterback Ty Simpson.

Simpson (6-2, 185), ranked No. 36 nationally, remains set to disclose his pledge next Friday -- Feb. 19 -- in an afternoon ceremony at his school.

In last week's edition, we reported that per multiple sources surrounding the recruitment, Tennessee stood on the outside looking in.
You rarely say never in recruiting, but barring a postponement in announcement date, the Vols won't be the pick despite Josh Heupel's efforts to kick the can along. Based on our info, we don't expect that to occur.

As we wrote in our Recruiting Big Board quarterback edition Wednesday, that left three contenders: Clemson, Alabama and Texas A&M. Notre Dame is being bandied about in the industry, but the Irish were way too late to offer and aren't a serious consideration.

Texas A&M -- whom we had cast as the long-shot of the three -- then took a commitment last week from Cypress (Texas) Bridgeland four-star Conner Weigman.

Jimbo Fisher's son plays for Simpson's father at UT Martin.
If Fisher thought Simpson was coming, he wouldn't have seized Weigman.

And then there were two.

We began framing Bama as trending with Simpson in the fall, based on returns picked up before and then after Simpson's visit to Clemson. If you'd have asked us late in the calendar year where Simpson was going, we'd probably have pointed to Tuscaloosa.

Trevor Lawrence was headed to UGA once upon a time, too.

You just have to be the last one standing.

It is a business decision.

Sort of, obviously they need to make a decision that helps them reach their next steps on their career path, but if it was actually a pure Business Decision, then Ewer should've stayed at Texas. Because from a business perspective, that would've given him the most options moving forward. He could've been developed and become a pro, but it also opens up a ton of opportunities for him down the road being a Texas grown kid at Texas.

I was more commenting on how these days every kid calls it a "business decision" even if they're a 3rd stringer transferring from Chattanooga to Carson Newman. It's just a cliched way of saying they're changing their mind these days.

I think a business decision would be to go to the CFP contending program with stability who's about to have a QB go in the first round. I'm sure deep down he'd rather be a Longhorn though.

But yea, it is really cringe when every prospect calls their commitment a, "business decision".

Thank you for all you bring to this board and for trying to soften the blow of Simpson ending up elsewhere.
