'19 TN RB Eric Gray

So with Williams, and Wright with Small there's no real reason for him... had small not missed games last year he'd have been knocking on a 1k season. Chandler was better suited for Heupel due to his ability to actually run routes and catch out of the backfield imo.

I disagree. The RBs will get a ton of carries next year. You need to have multiple capable backs to sustain depth throughout the year

Agreed and Gray is a lot more shifty so imagine what he could do in the open field this offense provides
Nobody is saying they wouldn't take gray... it just seems like your building him up to be Kamara like and he just flat isn't... he isn't Gibbs, or a Z. Evans. He's just a good back and helps with good depth as a 1a/b IMO.

I'm for taking him, I'm not for acting like Gray is some program changing pariah rb who is walking in day 1 breaking ankles and shooting lightning bolts out of his ass.

I'm not hyping him up to be Kamara lol. I said he would be a good complement to Small and would be amazing in his role as a shifty back and a receiver out of the backfield

Not bad for a 2nd year 3 star Omari Thomas add on. Poor guy doesn't know Small will be in the top 5 of every preseason SEC RB list. He almost had 1k with one shoulder,, and now he's added on great weight. Hell I still remember his 1st ever carry Pruitt's last year and he bout exploded through the safety. No burst lulz

and the Vandy game too. He's got one move that is really good when given a lot of space but he needs time to and a lot of space to do it. Gray can do it on the dime which is something we lack among RBs that will be our top 2 RBs right now in my opinion. Not trying to take anything away from Small but his strength is running through a defense, not around it. There's nothing wrong with that but it's always good to have an lightning back to the thunder one

I'm not opposed to Gray. I think he would be good too. I also think JWT will stand a chance at being better than both.

Rational is all I ever am.

As long as it keeps going for 6 he can do it every carry. I was tired of watching Deandre Swift do the same dead leg to us for 3 years in a row but see how that turned out for me.

The last time he was here was when he got a similar amount of carries as Small. Had pretty similar stats on a terrible offense and OL ran by offensive idiots that Small had with great offensive minds and open space. Gray would be amazing in this offense and a perfect complement to the power running of Small. Gray is also very dynamic as a pass catcher out of the backfield especially on screens
I thought Eric Gray was pretty decent in the offense while he was here, but I recall him breaking about 2 tackles total in his entire time here.

Gray should probably take notes on how to run through a tackle.. that kid got tackled by more blades of grass and shoestrings than all our backs last year combined.

Haven't seen a back fall from a shoe string tackle since 2020. Not even the walk on. And ppl rag on Whitehead but all I know is every chance the kid got he somehow ended up galloping in the open field. That seems like a good thing?

Whitehead needs to learn how to stay healthy... Kids had a string of bad luck.

Gray played behind Oklahoma’s offensive line which is most of the time one of the best in the country and played around a fantastic supporting cast offensively, and consistently played subpar competition, and didn’t have near the season Jabari Small did. He’s not worth a scholarship.

Their OL wasn't good last year and they really only let Kennedy Brooks run the ball. Lincoln Riley got these transfers, didn't play them and then left smh

Their Oline last year was horrible... they allowed some of the most qb hurries and pressures in the nation.

If Heupel and the team think Gray can help and wants him back... I'm OK with it. I seriously doubt that happens but who knows?

If he comes back and wins the starting spot, then we know he was better than what we have and I’ll be excited.
If he come back and doesn’t win the starting spot then a lot on here were right and he ain’t as good as we have but would be good depth.
The most likely scenario is that he doesn’t come here and I won’t care because I stopped caring when he transferred, but would still welcome him back if the unlikely scenario happens.
