'19 TN RB Eric Gray

Jeff Lebby is the new OC at OU. He was Heupel’s OC at UCF for Josh’s first 2 years there. He then went to work for Kiffin at OM for 2 years.

Anyway, Lebby brought in Dillion Gabriel from UCF and has already named him QB1 for the Sooners. Every 2022 spring depth chart I could find for the Sooners has Gray listed as RB1.

So why would he be leaving to come back to Tennessee. I’m guessing it’s not really even a possibility and we’re biting on some made up rumor OR maybe he just wants to come home. I mean he’s got it made at OU. Play out the year and head to the NFL.

Having said that, I’m a fan so whatever, wherever, I wish him well. jmo.

Other (Tennessee related) players listed as starting for OU this year headed into the spring:

LT Wanya Morris
DE Reggie Grimes
CB Woodi Washington
SS Key Lawrence

Maybe we offered Gray a lot of money to come home??

lol

Meh, flame away but my daughter could shoe-string tackle Gray when he was at UT, no thanks... Gotta be a rumor with little smoke because it just doesn't make any sense with who we already have in the backfield and also after the glowing report Heup gave on all the RB's when interviewed --- he said they have made huge strides, changed their bodies in a matter of months, and was really fired up about what we have... so then why would he slap them in the face and go after someone who took off?

Craziness. The kid was forced out due to investigation into improper benefits. He isn’t coming back. He’s a decent RB not worth the trouble he brings with him for a single year of playing time. Just craziness.

Where do rumors like this start?

A photo of him working out in Knoxville with Small and Wright over Spring Break... just like theories sprang up when Crouch was with Banks. People let their imaginations run wild so they shoot the horse and take off with cart.

Much less ypg. And sacks were less than 1 per game difference, right? You can argue forever but there is not definitive case that they were better and especially when you consider competition level- Big 12 vs SEC.
I’m not about to debate all day about offensive lines lmao. I just don’t think Eric Gray who had 400 yards last year is worth a roster spot when we have limited open spots and we have much more pressing needs like DB, LB, edge and even WR.

I think it is not worth drawing an opinion on since all of the questions that need to be asked and answered are between him, Heupel, and the team. Heupel took some guys with less talent for their position than Gray and got a lot of production. If he thinks he can do that with Gray... I won't protest. Gray looked really good at times for UT.

Taking Gray back is a no Brainerd

Everyone saying otherwise is silly.

We were suppose to have Tiyon, people forget that. We could use more veteran help.

'OU OL was way better'
Gets told it wasn't
'I'm not about to argue OLs'

the same people who are saying we dont need a player like gray will be the first ones to claim him as their favorite player if he comes here and rushes for 1500 yards. these same numnuts are the ones who are saying "if we have to pay a QB 8 million we dont want him. we would rather have a two star who wants to be here"

He can definitely come back now that the investigation was over. From everything I've heard, he didn't want to leave. Don't really any trouble from him. Any player would take money and extra benefits. Doesn't make them headcases. I would take him back in a heartbeat.
