TN vs Alabama, maybe not such an unrealistic a win

This is another example of exceeded future expectations (wishes) based on a very small sample size.

You can't take the 2nd half against UGA and declare that everything is fixed and Bama beware. We hope UT performs that way, but that was against the same team that got rolled by Mizzou yesterday. So whay do we really know about UT? We'll find out Sat.

Based on what I've seen so far, we beat Bama by 10. It would be 20 pts if it was in knoxville. We are gonna be a little to big and physical in the middle for them. Not to mention we have the ability to push the pace and really put some points up. Hold on.... We are talking about basketball right?

Slow your roll everybody. Don't start counting wins yet. Sure the team showed improvement last week, but saying we can beat Alabama because they didn't beat Kentucky by 60? Seriously?

So I was watching the Kentucky vs Alabama game and for a team that is pretty bad this year I was impressed by what Kentucky did to them in the first quarter. Kentucky wasn't able to score themselves in the first quarter but they also kept Bama from scoring as well, to top it off Kentucky forced two Alabama turnovers deep in Kentucky's territory. While the final outcome of that game was ultimately 48-7 Alabama, that sure makes me wonder what the VOLs can do against Alabama. We've done an excellent job this year at forcing turnovers, we're hitting hard, and we've proven that we can go the full 60 minutes and not quit. I'm definitely not as skeptical of this match-up as I was earlier this year. Just offering a bit of my own perspective based on what I saw today.

Go Vols!

Did you bring enough for the rest of the class?

Alabama took it easy on Kentucky in the 2nd half and still had 668 yards in offense to Kentucky's 170. Yes it's Kentucky but I saw nothing that would make me think we have a snow balls chance in hell against them.

They won last year cause AJ had to pass all over us. I like our chances to keep it atleast close if AJ has to pass more than run plays.

For the most part, I love y'all's enthusiasm...but furthermore, I think y'all are insane!!

You obviously know nothing about football. :)

Seriously though, I agree with you. I hope the unbridled optimism turns out to be warranted, but in reality, we probably need to pump the brakes a little.

Apparently we didn't watch the same game.

What I saw was a Kentucky team that was lucky they didn't get beat 80-0. Kentucky "forced" 2 turnovers? I guess technically you're right, but given the 2 teams I put it more on sloppy ball handling than UK making some outstanding defensive plays. Not to mention Alabama was greatly helping out UK early but flat out dropping balls. Not drops caused by coverage, balls dropped by Alabama receivers with no UK players within 10 yards.

To the majority of people who watch college football, that was clearly a case of a good team playing down to their competition; and they still won 48-7. Yes, there's always the "Any Given Saturday" disclaimer, but mostly I think you are trying way too hard in your "analysis" of the game, and looking for things that really weren't there.

I was a lot more optimistic until I watched Missouri beat the heck out of UGA. We're going to have to beat at least one pretty good team to get to a bowl.

Very true. With the exception of Vandy, our November schedule is looking more difficult than it did a few weeks ago.

A little? Some here need to come to a complete stop, put the car in park, and set the parking brake.

We'll know more about Missouri in the next 2 weeks. We're about to find out how important Franklin was to their success (I think we all agree a ton), and if they drop the next 2 they might be in full tailspin by the time we play.

That's not to say I think they suddenly suck or that we definitely win, but they have a huge gut check time coming Saturday.

I was told I'm not a true fan for predicting Tennessee to lose to Oregon this year.

Sometime afterward, my fanhood was again questioned. This time for accepting mediocrity by still supporting Butch Jones.

You guys have REALLY got to temper your expectations for the rest of this year. The way I see it, we will be damn lucky to reach 6-6 and we'll probably wind up somewhere around 5-7

South Carolina: Loss
Alabama: Loss
Missouri: Toss up
Auburn: Loss
Vandy: Toss up
Kentucky: Win
IMO more like this

USCe: Toss up
Buma: Loss
Mizzu: Toss up
Auburn: Toss up
Vandy: Win
Kentucky: Win

Go Vols!

KY kept it close with FL and USCe, so you can't just put them in the win column without some effort.
