That has to be a joke. Baylor, osu, texas, theyre all better than tennessee at this point. This will not be a cupcake but it is far from the toughest game of the year. Hell even wvu was within striking distance of the same bama team that beats you by 30 almost every year.

Not on the level of oregon? I can appreciate you having an opinion. But how can they put it down on alabama but they arent on oregon's level?

1. Alabama was totally uninterested in that game. Believe it or not but it's true. For a team that was going for a three peat, that bowl game was a let down for them. If that game had been for the NC Alabama beats them by 2 TDs.

2. Oregon is just a better team than OU. Alabama is nowhere near the same team. Like him or not but AJ McCarron was a very good QB. He commanded the offense much better than Sims or Coker could ever dream of. They are also replacing a lot on their secondary. Last years Bama would have beaten WVU by 30.

If Oregon and OUR would have played last year, Oregon wins by 10-14. If they played this year Oregon wins by at least 21.

I know you guys don't like this but Bama didn't want to be there....it was a consolation game. When you have won national titles something like 3 of the last 5 years and with one game away you lose the chance...it is a let down.

You probably won't like this either but that's a load of crap. Bama tries every game and when they lose the word goes out that they just didn't care. BS. The same thing was going around when Utah handed them their ass in the bowl game. :hi:[/QUOTE]

Wrong.

Nope, pretty sure I'm right. Maybe you should put up a Bammer flag below your avy. I've watched the games and it's easy to tell when someone is trying hard or just blowing it off. Bama couldn't win the game.

Sure, sure. A team who struggled against WVU, TCU and TT all of a sudden just becomes better than one of the best teams in the country. Sounds right :eek:lol:. I hate Alabama. However last year they were going for a three peat and anything less was a let down. But believe what you want.

So, when Bama lost to Auburn last year, it was because they were uninterested? Or, what?

Yes, OU struggled in the early part of last season....while breaking in a new QB. But teams with good coaching usually improve as the season goes along. As evidenced by their performance at K-State (W 41-31) in week 11, @ #6 Oklahoma State (W 33-24) in week 12, and of course beating Bama in the Sugar bowl as well as the emergence of Knight as the starter. I find it odd that people reference earlier games in the 2013 season as an accurate reflection of how good (or not good) OU is currently. It's silly logic. If we are going to pick and choose games, should OU gauge Tennessee based upon their performance against Florida (who stunk last year), Oregon, or Vanderbilt last year? The answer is....of course not. It's a new year and the farther you go back into last year, the less validity your argument becomes because teams evolve and change and/or usually get better with good coaching. Tennessee and OU are both examples of this.

Don't make excuses for Bama. They lost. Seeing Tennessee fans stick up for and make excuses for that school makes me sick. Stoops called out the SEC and said the SEC dominance talk was propoganda. It was a nationally televised prime time BCS bowl game. Bama came out motivated and took it to Oklahoma. They just couldn't handle it when Oklahoma didn't roll over for them and hit back. They lost, Oklahoma won. The Tide had more than enough motivation and a coach in Saban that was in the spotlight for a month with the experts saying how he was going to put Big Game Bob in his place. Bama isn't invincible. Screw them and anyone that carries water for those tree poisoning inbreds.

With all due respect, this writer obviously didn't bother looking at OU's schedule before he commented. Baylor is, by far, OU's toughest game this year.....and it's not debatable. Baylor is a fringe top 10 team. Oklahoma State, judging from their week 1 performance, will probably not be a push-over either. If I had to rank to rank OU's toughest games, it would be:
1) Baylor
2) @ West Virginia (we have struggled mightily against poor WV teams the last two years.
3) OSU/Tennessee/Kansas State (any of these)

Good, reasonable post by an OU fan. :good!: Some of your fellow fans need to take notes. I'd say your assessment is on point with Baylor being your toughest matchup as long as Petty is healthy when y'all play.

Have you even seen Texas play?

Yep, and i've seen tennessee play.

Tejas has sucked for the last few years...what are you toking on?

Same stuff that I had when I looked at tennesse's stellar 7 conference wins since texas was in the national championship in 2010.

Not on the level of oregon? I can appreciate you having an opinion. But how can they put it down on alabama but they arent on oregon's level?

It's always easier to handle an unexpected loss when you convince yourself you didnt want to be there. Sounds like a coaching problem.

1. That's debatable. I saw the game, they were trying very hard, they did not want to lose. But by all means, convince yourself they didnt care, saban predictably said so, so there's your out. :loco:

2. Nothing wrong with having an opinion about oregon. We can have fun comparing OU's margin of victory over you to that of oregon's and some other sec opponents. Always nice to haver a barometer.

Bama bama bama... Lol

Surely u don't think u played the same bama we did last year..

Same qb, same line, same wr, same rbs, same defense, same saban....but not same alabama? ok.

Texas are you kidding!!!!!!!

I'd like to see how well tennessee would perform with their backup qb, 6 other starters suspended or injured, with a patchwork offensive line that boasted 5 career starts.

Tennessee hasnt had a winning season since their stellar 7-6 campaign during obama's first year in office. Do you realize that tennessee doesnt have a single player on the team who has experienced a winning season over there? Maybe some seniors who redshirted but they didnt play. Texas has 1 losing season in the past 16 years. So, yeah, texas is better than tennessee.

You know what's funny? Come saturday night OU will have the same number of sec victories in 2014 as tennessee did all of 2013.

I just don't have faith in this offense. If they can put some points on the board early it will be an interesting game. If we have to abandon the run and go one dimensional with the passing game it will get ugly. Our oline has to step up for us to have a chance. OU has a nasty defense. If worley has time we might be able to take advantage of their secondary.

I love our defense but if they are on the field all day we are in trouble.

It's not debatable that Texas is the better program going back over a decade. This year, Texas is hurting...no question. You can certainly make an argument that, if we took a snapshot of each program at this moment, Tennessee is a better football team....simply because of the turnover/turmoil going on within the Texas program. I think it would be a very interesting game if Texas and Tennessee lined up to play each other tomorrow....who knows what would happen?

I would agree with 1) and doubt that any more than a few Vol fans wouldn't.

Odd how OU struggles with WVU.

Well, the rest of us are talking about this Saturday's game fyi.

I understand the motivation to build Texas up given the way they handled you guys last year though.

General, it is very odd. WV isn't overly talented and their offensive scheme is somewhat similar to ours. On paper, you would think we wouldn't have much of a problem with them....this is a team that lost to Kansas last year...yikes! Having said that, they have played us to the death the last two years. Maybe it's a "matchup" problem?....I can't figure out our issue with them.

For the record, I don't think WV is the 2nd best team on our schedule. But recent history tells us that this will be our 2nd toughest game of the year when you take everything else into account.

Good luck with that game, and the rest of them for that matter (except for Saturday of course).

See post 62 and 63 above. But yes texas might be having trouble this year. we'll have to see. then again they got rolled 5 times last year and were still better than tennessee. But anyway this is about OU and tennessee not OU and texas. Cant wait for saturday.
