I normally agree with ya but you cant seriously tell me we were more talented than USC last year. we didnt have a single guy anywhere close to clowney, they had better running backs, better recievers, a much much better qb. maybe our oline was better but thats about it. we won that game with excellent coaching, discipline, supreme effort and a big play when we absolutely had to have one. the same will be true saturday. if we stay disciplined, no stupid penalties or casual give the ball up for free turnovers then we have a shot.

You're certainly entitled to your own opinion. If you believe that SCAR fielded a team of magic and dragons, be my guest. I totally get the draw of thinking the way you do.

We actually agree that there is hope for UT on Saturday, and it will require everything you mentioned and more. This is one case where it isn't just about talent but about how much home field advantage, experience and other intangibles can effect a game when talent is relatively close.

1. That's debatable. I saw the game, they were trying very hard, they did not want to lose. But by all means, convince yourself they didnt care, saban predictably said so, so there's your out. :loco:

2. Nothing wrong with having an opinion about oregon. We can have fun comparing OU's margin of victory over you to that of oregon's and some other sec opponents. Always nice to haver a barometer.

Same qb, same line, same wr, same rbs, same defense, same saban....but not same alabama? ok.

I'd like to see how well tennessee would perform with their backup qb, 6 other starters suspended or injured, with a patchwork offensive line that boasted 5 career starts.

Tennessee hasnt had a winning season since their stellar 7-6 campaign during obama's first year in office. Do you realize that tennessee doesnt have a single player on the team who has experienced a winning season over there? Maybe some seniors who redshirted but they didnt play. Texas has 1 losing season in the past 16 years. So, yeah, texas is better than tennessee.

You know what's funny? Come saturday night OU will have the same number of sec victories in 2014 as tennessee did all of 2013.

Well if you want a barometer, and you believe last year was a great indicator, check this out (using your ridiculous logic).

Ole Miss beat Texas by 21, who beat OU by 16. Using your barometer, Ole Miss is 37 points better than OU last year. Now here is where your head will explode. Ole Miss beat Vandy by 4. So Vandy would be 33 points better than OU, last year? If so, UT only lost to Vandy by 4. Your barometer would say that UT is 29 points better than OU, last year.

Or, using your barometer from last year, you can compare Oregon to OU in one step. Texas beat OU by 16, but lost to Oregon by 23. So, OU was 39 points worse than Oregon last year.

Tennessee lost to Oregon by by 45. So, there are two ways to look at it, Tennessee was either 29 points better than OU (using the ole miss>Vandy/Texas>OU barometer), or 6 points worse (using the Oregon>UT/UT>OU barometer). That's an odd barometer you have there.

We could also try the UT>SCAR>UCF>Baylor>OU barometer, if youd like but that puts UT about 30+ points better than OU, last year.

I'll even stipulate to the OU>Bama>UT conundrum that would suggest that OU is 48 points better than UT last year.

What does any of that mean?

Absolutely nothing, or you are left to believe that UT was 29 to 30+ points better than OU last year, while OU was also 48 or 6 points better than UT last year. It doesn't work.

Whatever happens Saturday, I would suggest you enjoy every minute between now and then. Even if you reel off a 100 point victory, next year, in Neyland, will be a totally different beast.

It looks like you did a lot of research on that so i'll at least reply. I didnt try to say that it would mean OU is so many points better based on their higher margin of victory. Barometer is just a measure of comparison, not the be all end all. Its a statistic. It's fodder. We beat you worst than they beat you. I know what it means, and that's why it's just a barometer. Which as we all know isnt an exact science but in general terms it can be a good measure of comparison.

I dont doubt at Neyland it will be a whole other game. 100k screaming fans in an orange color OU has a bad history with. It's always harder to win on the road. There may even potentially be a slight intimidation factor for some of the younger guys being in the largest stadium theyve been in.

But just how great is your homefield advantage? You went 4-3 just last year alone at home, and one of those losses was to vandy. Come on, vandy? That's like OU losing to iowa state at home. One impressive victory over a ranked team, but then 2 losses from 2 other ranked teams. Again 3 more losses every year going back to where i stopped looking at 2010. One thing you guys are really good at is losing to ranked teams at home. But it doesnt mean you cant steal one once in a while. I sure hope you dont get that one against OU!
