'21 TN WR Walker Merrill (Tennessee signee)

Why can't any of you all call a spade a spade when it comes to Heupel? Or any HC for the Vols while they're the coach?

He has to do a better job of rotating!
Many people can see this OBVIOUS problem.

Holiday were all dudes that have proved they can make plays with the ball in their hands.
But Heupel almost never let them on the field all for the sake of "getting the defense tired".

Just throwing the ball to 3 dudes and never anyone else is extremely discouraging if you're a player that has been practicing his butt off and doing all the right things. Yet still on game day you ride the pine.
Weird flex. Been on this site a long time and that's hands down the longest rant on rotating wr's I've ever seen.

Tillman didn’t play that much early in his career. Walker is making a mistake
Different coaching staffs and circumstances. Previous schemes rotated too many too frequently to complement their lack of proficiency. If you’re not getting snaps in this scheme…somebody better earned them.

I don't know I think we should slow things down and suck a little to keep the youngsters from leaving.
Again, if he doesn't want to be here, he is better off somewhere else. If he wants to be here, he will do well. He is hot our only WR in the class and we all be just fine.

Yeah and he's gotta make sure the moms bring enough juice boxes and oreros for all the kids after the game too...

As soon as Heupel or anyone starts playing people for the primary reason of not hurting their feelings its over.

I think it's pretty obvious why there's no rotation. We substitute 2-3 times a drive. Putting a WR in the rotation means trusting them with >20% of the snaps minimum.

I suppose we could stop using tempo. We'd score less but we could distribute the snaps more and then sing Kumbaya in the locker room.

We winning, idc who plays. Just win. First 11 win season in forever and you whining about wr rotation 🙄

Dude… did you all even watch us this season? Nothing about the offensive scheme needs to change at all lol. We won’t miss the guys leaving. We have plenty of skill guys on offense
I didn’t say the scheme needed to change any. Just that we need to get guys more reps so guys are more prepared in case a couple of guys get hurt

Squirrel was ready quicker. Walker has a different skill set and in another year or two he would have been a contributor. All imo
I think this ⬆️ Is the “goal” of NIL to bring more parity to the semi lower schools. I think slower developing players will be forced to go to lower tiered schools. However, I think they will just jump back up after they start to peak. So not sure how effective it will be.

Best of luck to this kid. I think we all expected this move at some point with both Jimmies and Walker. These kids want to play, not mad at a kid that want to find the field.

Squirrel is a slot guy. Walk was restricted to the Z receiver spot. It was between him and Keyton preseason and Keyton passed him. Chas is a youngster that could get looks next year, so Walk sees the writing on the wall and wants to play somewhere. Smooth route runner that is a good receiver

And here you go with your usual I know everything BS. Please do us all a favor. Explain how this offense could have possibly been any better this year.

Told everyone months ago that him and both Jimmies would leave and everyone said I didn’t know what I was talking about. We have to start rotating WRs more. We don’t need to play 7-8 a game like Oregon used to under Chip Kelly, but 5-6 a game would really help keep guys fresh and help prepare them better if someone goes down. We’ve been lucky so far to where we didn’t lose multiple WRs at the same time. If it happens next year we’re in trouble though. Even if we get the guy from Oregon

No you didn’t tell everyone anything. And like it’s been said, nothing needs to change. You need to stop thinking you know so much about football. You don’t know anymore than anyone else on here. Heupel and this coaching staff has forgotten more about football than everyone on this site.

You and @LittleVol need to get a grip and get off your high horse.

Some people really know how to turn recruiting threads into drama. Guess it keeps me on my toes.

Happiness is having a team with players so good you don’t expect to play until your junior or senior year. Then your starters are good and experienced.

We’ve been searching for Happiness. Thanks

This makes sense. He’s a good player but I think we have guys more talented. It just is what it is

Seems to me that the best way to involve second line receivers in a game is to build an excellent defense so that our lead can be "big enough."

And it looks to me like downfield blocking is also important to CJH, although that is hard to validate from TV shots.

You beat me to it…I think seeing what Webb and Nimrod are doing has more to do with Merrill leaving than how much PT he got this year…because they affect how much he gets next year, which is more important. Supposedly, the staff is very high on those two.
