Tobias Harris staying in NBA Draft

I think it will be quite a few years before he reaches his full potential. He would have been a much better draft pick if he had another year of college experience under his belt...IMHO. Good luck to him.

with a new coach, and a weak draft class this year... I think that was too big of a risk. It would be tough for him to get that much higher. Probably smart that he left.

why one and dones are a program killer...he came here, he won nothing and is now an afterthought, rather have have the Chism's and Lofton's who never will play in the NBA and wear Tennessee with pride and take us to new heights...Harris is a mediocre at best NBA player and already forgotten...see ya

How can you blame a 19 year old kid for leaving a mediocre college basketball program that just went through some pretty adverse stuff and expect him to stay when someone is waving a fat check in his face

You sound like a mediocre fan at best.

I won't forget Tobias. I will forget about you and your opinion though.

this is awesome for Tobias. Very happy for him. From everything I have heard he has the work ethic to really make in the league. Wish him nothing but the best. It is a shame his career here couldn't have been more successful.

Who do you hope he goes to? I was hoping to start watching a little more NBA when Allen Houston was drafted but then he went to Detroit and I lost interest again.

Well it's pretty much reality now, this year is going to suck. Bruce has officially left us nothing on the roster.

Good luck to him and I wish him well. Wouldn't even have considered coming back if I was him. I'm old school though. I want TN to build a program and team and get to know these guys and watch them improve and grow to be men. Call me crazy, but I don't want one and doners. Never have and never will.
That approach is fine, as long as you are consistent with and understand the consequences. If you want to do business that way, you can't complain when you look up one day and realize your program has topped out as a southern version of Wisconsin.

I wish Tobias all the luck in the world, however, he is going to struggle for a few years. He lacks the outside perimeter game needed by a small forward and definitely will get overpowered by power forwards in the NBA. He could have used another year of seasoning.

Potential sanctions...NBA first rounder. Potential sanctions...NBA first rounder.

Not that hard of a decision.
The sanctions aren't even really relevant. This is the worst draft in a generation. Harris is never going to be in a much better position than he is now. The more scouts see him, the more they will see the obvious holes in his game for the next level. It happens with everyone that stays in college.

Okay let me rephrase. Had there been no sanctions, had we made another elite 8 appearance. Had the ground not fallen from underneath the program. If there was still something to gain from staying at UT, its not hard to imagine him staying. Of course, with none of that being true, he should leave. He left as expected. Regardless, he's gone and now we will have someone to follow in the NBA.

He could have used another year of seasoning.
Good point. Another year of college coaching and study halls would have benefitted him much more than working with the best player development people in the world and cashing huge checks.
