Multiple people on here keep thinking today is a play-in game. It is most definitely not. Bame would have to beat Florida and maybe even win the tourney to get in, as their resume is below average.

The selection committee does not look at head to head.

What kind of seed do you think we get from these scenarios?

Beat bama, lose next round?
Win next two and lose in finals?
Win it all?

You've been hanging around the bubble all year. The best I'd expect, if you win the SECt, is probably 9-10. A 7 seed is out of the question. Poo poo the RPI all you want, but the teams sitting at the 7 seed line right now have an RPI in the teens and will have more wins than Tennessee (even if you win out).

I'd take the 10 seed and run at this point

If Tennessee can't beat Bama today, They don't deserve to go to the dance! how far will they make it if they can't beat Bama.

From a realistic standpoint, I think getting in, avoiding a play-in game, and not getting an 8 or 9 seed is about the perfect scenario. So to your point, I would be ecstatic about a 10 seed. I also agree that a 7 seed is probably a pipe dream unless UT really is a 9 seed and they get pushed around just because of seeding rules by the committee.

A loss to Bama doesn't mean that the Vols wouldn't be able to make a run in the NCAA tournament. It depends more on who UT is matched up with.

Look at '07, the Vols lost to LSU (who had the second worst record in the conference that year) in the first round, and ended up being one point away from making the Elite Eight.
