Yes very easily...the bubble teams around us don't have easy games, such as UVA/NC State. It could be like when we lost to UGA, everyone else lost so it really didn't hurt us.
Obviously winning today would be advised, but if we lose we aren't automatically NIT bound.
Gotta play who's on the schedule.
I'd say that if you win, you are definitely in. If you lose a close one, I'd still give you a 75 % chance simply because your record down the stretch has been so strong. If you lose by 10 or more, I'd still give you a better than even chance, but it would be close.
Gotta respect memphis fans...they turn out to see some embarrassing basketball schedules...lipscomb, loyola, etc. Pastner schedules like he is very insecure same as his attitude for ut series..he would be on hot seat in yr 4 if he suffered a first rd loss ncaat..he doesnt give his team enough chances to win big games so people treat a long winning streak like they had w "who cares" attitude
Oh come now. We had a down year in our OOC schedule, but we still played VCU, Minnesota, Louisville, and UTK, plus some noatble others (Harvard, Ohio, Xavier). We also went 26-4.
He is in year 4, and just got named Coach of the Year for his conference (take that for what it's worth). I wish we played a crapload more top 25 teams at home, and we will next season. He'll need to start winning in the Tourney and this may be the year he does.
I'm not saying the guy is the next coming of Wooden, but c'mon, he's 34. He's also undefeated against a certain deep-voiced coach in East TN.
It is a REALLY bad ooc schedule for the conference you play in considering what your expectations are for basketball. I laugh at josh for the holtz on steroids way he builds up other teams but I liked pastner before the talk of ending a series that is fun for fans of state. It speaks to an insecurity imo in his job. You know what tenor of sports talk radio was in january in memphis...you can't go 4 yrs at memphis without winning an ncaat game or beating a top 25 team w the resources tigers put into hoops. Perhaps you disagree w that but way I see it as lifelong memphian.
