Still don't see how USC will continue to struggle for years on end. The offense has definitely improved and you know Monte will have a defense sooner or later. Not sure if Scroggins is a guy they can count on when Barkley leaves, though.

Give me a break. If you watched football today, you saw it. If you watch tomorrow, you'll see it. If you watched the Bucs in 2007, you saw it produce a top 3 defense. Monte had good defenses at NC State. Last year he shut Bama and Florida down better than just about anyone. We had the 17th ranked defense despite our deficiencies.

At which level?

Besides, Monte's one of the few that still run a pure Tampa 2. It's at least proliferated it's way into just about every Cover 2 defensive scheme nowadays.

TBD. It worked in the NFL because he was working with NFL talent. Size, strength and most importantly, speed. He's only had one year with each defense he has coached at the college level but it might not work at this level. He might have 4-5 guys that have the skills to run his defense but in the NFL, he had 11. That's why they were in the NFL. USC has been torched quite a few times this year and just lost to a QB that sucked in high school. I'll hold judgment until he's had more than a year to coach his defense but the talent will start dropping off. Might be a case of not having enough talent to run a defense that was made famous by pro players.

Why could he not do that with USC, a team with alot more talent? 91st in the country and playing in the PAC 10.
