Toney Williams

Wow, we're really nervous over here now.
Better snatch him up quickly!
Brooks just might be able beat out UT for a recruit that UT wants while UT has no coach.

UK has been at best a mediocre program while UT has been in decline. I wonder what the effect on UK will be once Mike Hamilton says, "Our new coach is..."

Pretty good idea. The Vols being down is like interest rates; you have to jump on 'em while they're down!

:horse:

Those UK guys are lame on that board. If we traditionally sucked as bad as UK I guarantee that I would not waste my time talking about it on the internet. One d-bag on there said that no one but UT fans would notice if we quit playing games for three years. How many times have we beat them consecutively? Seriously, 25, I can't remember. UK would be the first to notice such a thing. For once they could be the 4th best team in the east instead of the 5th. We stole Willie Bohannon from them last year and we will still some more this year when new coach is hired.

Let's compare.
Kentucky football... laugher. Kentucky basketball... they have and are going down. Tennessee football... we have and we will. (As soon as we get the hire we're back.) Oh yea, Tennessee basketball.... we are.

Someone once said "You keep on doin' what your doin', you'll keep on gettin' what you got."

"big" Blue must still be stinging from the Chris Lofton and Scotty Hopson deals.

Reeeaaaching....just can't quuuuiiiiite geeeeeet there.

I applaud your spirit. Your message, on the other hand will require some revision in the near future.

You know when a corpse is down, what do you do? You try to pick off the best parts for your own well-being…..well at least that is what UK football is attempting. With the Vols in a state of absurd floundering, the Cats are attempting to take their best recruits. First up on the agenda, RB Toney Williams, who is now considering UK. According to Williams, he will visit UK, Arkansas and Georgia Tech and is likely to back out of his original commitment to the Vols. In fact, he may even be on campus this weekend, if the scheduling works. Williams is a stud, and would be a great get for the RB corp, especially if David Sims ends up de-committing. Expect more of this over the next few weeks as teams, and especially the Cats, try to dismantle what is left of the Big Orange

Dang it! I was looking forward to seeing him in orange. I hope this isn't true.

Milton lost to East Paulding 43-41 in 3 overtimes in the first round off the playoffs.

Toney had 245+ yards on 40 +/- carries and 5 touchdowns. He scored all 3 OT touchdowns.

According to a teammate, he expects Williams to honor UT commitment but leaving option open until a coach is hired. Seems to me that he will be a UT signee as long as the new HFC doesn't install a spread type offense.

I will update on exact stats later tomorrow.

(My calculations had him for the 1st half at 18 carries for 132 yards and a 24 yard TD. 2nd Half 109+ yards on 23+ carries and touchdowns of 2,4 and 6 yards. The Internet feed went down during the third OT so I know he had at least one more carry and his fifth TD but not sure how long or how many additional carries.)

Glad to hear his teammates think he will honor his commitment. Can't wait to see him in O&W next year.

I would post the article from the AJC about his teamates statements but I cannot find it - I came across it totally by accident in the Metro / North Fulton section earlier this week but cannot find the post.

The following is my interpertation of the article - heresay mind you but nontheless, "..Coach Walker said that we should make our decisions based on the school, campus and whatever, not on the coach because of changes in coaching of late. I grew up with Toney in youth ball and he always talked about UT and that was where he wanted to go."

I'll keep looking for the article and update with final stats and the URL if I find it later on.

I would love to see TW play for the Red and Black, but we are pretty set at the TB position and I doubt he would get a chance in the first couple of years.

TW is visiting Georgia Tech this weekend. Not good.

Being from Chattanooga, TW is a lifelong volfan so are chances are still good. Georgia Tech would be a good second choice for vol living in GA though. Hope his visit doesn't go good.

Hopefully he's just exhausting all his options in case Hamilton makes a bonehead hire. From all accounts i've read he's still commited but waiting to see who Hammy hires before making a final. Can't blame him for that i guess.

Williams Will Visit Kentucky

Tennessee has been the beneficiary of several games between them and the Kentucky Wildcats. But now that the Volunteers are losing long-time coach Phillip Fulmer, the Wildcats may be in line to benefit by gaining one of the Vols recruits, Toney Williams.

Kentucky is in need of a quality running back that can make plays early on. One player who fits that mold is 6-foot-1, 230 pound Georgian, Toney Williams. “I get tough yards. I’m good at running up the middle. I’m a hard runner,” said Williams.

Playing for Milton High School in Alpharetta (Ga.), Williams racked up about 2000 yards and 25 touchdowns this season. “We went 8-3 and got to the first round of the playoffs,” said Williams.

With numbers like those, Williams definitely has attracted a lot of attention. But right now, he’s narrowed it down to two schools. “Tennessee and Kentucky,” said Williams. “Those are the two front-runners,” he said.

What does Toney like about Kentucky’s football program? “I just like the way they use their backs in their offense. I had a good time when I went up there,” he said.

“I haven’t planned my visits yet,” said Williams. Williams does have an idea of what he’s looking for in the school he finally chooses. “It’s about how comfortable I feel being there. I’m looking at how they use their tailback. My relationship with the coaches is important too,” said Williams.

With his choices being narrowed down to Kentucky and Tennessee, Williams will obviously give Tennessee a chance to pick their new head coach before he decides. “I won’t make my decision until I know what UT does. It depends on who they hire,” said Williams.

Williams is rated as the number 30 running back and a four-star player according to Scout.com.

had another huge game this past week. 260 yards and 5 TDs..His team lost though and their season is over.
