Tony Basillio confirmed - Kevin Ware won't be released

Basilio is an idiot, manufactures stuff out of thin air. Do you really believe he is texting buddies with this kid. At this point Martin will be the one doing the releasing not Hamilton. I would not release him until his family sat down with me, listened to what I had to offer, and could make an informed decision about his future. I wish these young men were smart enough to keep their personal business private.

Basillio just tweeted:

Just got a text from Kevin Ware. "Mike Hamilton will not give me my release"

Seems sort of shady. I'd let the guy out of it considering Mike point blank told the kid that Pearl would be our coach when they talked a few weeks back.

EDIT: --- Basillio T'd someone from
Scout.com. Scout confirmed, not
Basillio.

Par for the course.

If you saw at the bottom of my post, it was a RT by someone at Scout.com. Basillio retweeted. Wasn't the author.

Rucker, Josh Ward, Dan Wolken, and several others are tweeting about it. It's not manufactured.

I guess he (and his parents/advisers) should have read the LOI before he signed it. One is presumed to know the contents of any contract he executes.

There's no way you release a kid before he has a chance to sit down with the new coach. Lots of emotions going on. I'm sure everyone is filling his head with stuff (probably opposing coaches feeding him info through friends and family). Let emotions settle down, talk to CCM. If at that time he still wants a release, go for it. I don't think CCM will care that much. He won't want someone here that doesn't want to be here.

Wonder how many of you that are trashing this decision were all for it when Pearl wouldn't release Tyler Smith.

Sorry my mistake. Disregard my second sentence it was not meant as an attack on you. I still stand firm on my belief that Basilio is an idiot and just throws stuff out to get a reaction. I guess that is his job to attract followers, I am old school and despise wreckless bloggers.

No. That's why ware needs to ****. He hasn't given the new guy a chance face to face. Guy is trying to Bryce brown himself. Just slow down and talk to coach after the tourney.

I bet the Brown family put this kid up to it!

I bet Brown left after being gang ban.....well you get the picture...

If Mike Hamilton had not lied to the kid then I'd understand why he wouldnt release him but under these circumstances it really makes no sense to force the kid to lose a year. Let Zo get his own recruits.

We didn't let any football recruits out so how could we let this kid out. That would be spitting in the face of every Kiffin recruit. Ware can cry his way to prep school. He signed a contract. Thats life.

He lied to him after he already signed the LOI. What would the difference be?

If I were the kid .... I would trash Hamilton in every media venue I could. I would force them to let me go......just sayin....

The kid is. He is tweeting up a storm. First it shouldn't be Hammy's call. If the ccm will release him then release him. In an interview that is exactly what CCM said he would do. "If a kid doesn't want to be here then let him go and be happy"..CCM can rerecruit him and sign him again if he so choose..

I don't think this is a bad move at all. Ware hasn't even sat down with the new coach. He needs to AT LEAST hear what the new coach has to say. If he wants to leave, he can request a transfer and sit out a year. You sign with the institution, not the coach. It sucks, and I feel bad for him, but he needs to give CCM a chance.

Players shouldn't be forced to play for a coach they don't want to play for, period.
