Tony Romo just said about Heupel

The only thing that bugs me about Romo saying this is it sows the seeds of doubt heading into the biggest game of the season. It’s a distraction the team (and the fans) don’t need right now because it just causes drama and outside noise.

Romo can suck a fat banana.

The college game seems to suit Josh better. He's all about family...love...growing teams through strong personal relationships...he seems to genuinely love recruiting (though no one can love the long hours it takes). He seems to want to have a mentoring relationship with his lads (and his assistant coaches).

All of that seems to be in his DNA. And screams at a better fit in college than the pros.

I can't pretend to know his mind. Only he knows if this is an ambition he harbors, and whether it is a weak one or a strong one.

But I think, all other things being equal, he's more likely than not to tend in the direction of staying at the college level for life.

Go Vols!

Offenses outside of a few teams are pretty bad right now in the nfl. Sure many teams will go after Heupel. If he want to leave for the nfl not much we can do just like what happened to saban with LSU and Spurrier. However Coach H will leave this university in such a better spot than when he came in kinda like what Dickey did. Think a lot of good college coaches will be interested in coming to Tennessee with our resources and our AD.

We are back to being a top tier sec program. Hope Heupel stays though

"NFL teams are interested, not saying he'll go", but said "just telling you, he's on the radar of every NFL team".. Jim Nantz followed "I know you and I know you know something" Romo followed up saying "he's wanted in the NFL"

Wow... Pay him, now. Alot.

Not gonna happen. Too much BIG ORANGE BLOOD pumping through that heart……🧡

CJH is all about the college game. He ain't going to the NFL. He knows better. He will be here for a while raise a family and continue to get the support and $$$ he needs. He is not going to Chase the Wind because he does not have to do so.
Agreed with all of that, but we need to show Coach Heupel some respect and pay him SEC money!

Josh is NOT an NFL type coach. Besides, I think he loves what he has at Tennessee...

Would be a mistake. The things that make him good on the college level wouldn't translate. Also the NFL would probably change the rules to prevent his tempo.

PS- with Spyre and other outside supporters now being well funded, there's no reason not to give him NFL money to stay. I imagine most Vol fans would pony up to keep him.

Heupel is not Kiffin. He realizes that he is sitting on a gold mine. Only one spot that I would worry about him leaving and that is his alma mater. And I don’t even see him going there
He won't go back there because Stoops still has his claws in the program indirectly and played a role in hiring Venables. So he's still a player there. I hope CJH has a long memory.

As a head coach, life is much easier in the NFL than college. That’s really the only draw. You don’t have to recruit 24/7 365. Other than that, College beats Pro in every other facet.

So, unless he hates recruiting, which I don’t see, or they offer him some Jimbo Fisher fully guaranteed contract, he won’t leave

My guess is that Coach will view these reports as "noise" and threat them as such. At some point, he'll take a hard look at the man in the mirror and ask him what he wants and the man will answer that he wants what he has and more of it. He's just getting started with Tennessee teams. When Heupel says "this is college football at its best," I think he means it like he knows it's true. It's his train now, and I can see him riding it for a long stretch. Why would he want to get off? jmho
