It looks like Tony swerved to miss the guy and when he did the backend of his car fishtailed and came around and hit the guy on the track.

Racing is testosterone filled. Period.

Hell we had a 6 car pile up here a week ago Saturday and 4 guys fist fighting on the track.

Mark Martin makes appearances here occasionally as it's where he got his start.

I'll say this I haven't driven a dirt car before but I have friends who do, from what I gather that is how your supposed to drive the track. You gas it into the turn and let the rear tires hang out and that is when he clipped Ward. Tony didn't kill him, Kevin Ward's anger killed Kevin Ward. It's a tragic accident for both sides.

Also I said this in the motorsports forum, every race sanctioning body needs to implement a rule to keep drivers in their cars till medical personnel get to the scene. I can't believe this hasn't been a rule yet, also I can't believe this hasn't happened in a NASCAR sanctioned series yet either.

I'd go a different route, stop the cars on the track. Situation in the car could be life threatening in itself.

Oh, I thought we were talking people safety. You have emergency personnel wandering outside the vehicle as well. A rule ain't doing squat to control a mad driver....they are running on emotion not logic at that point.

Only at speed. I haven't seen the clip, but I'm sure the caution lights were on and you don't hang the rear out to get around the track under caution. I think Tony tried to scare him and they both misjudged the distance. Maybe the kid moved in the same time Tony gassed it. Whatever happened, it's not good for Tony and tragic for the Ward family.

From the video I saw the kid comes down to groove, hangs out a little higher to let other cars come by and comes down even closer when Tony's car comes by. Its tragic but I don't think Tony will be charged with anything.

He's not.

Stewart was questioned and released by the Ontario County Sheriffs. He was believed to be heading back to Watkins Glen, NY where his team was getting ready for Sunday's Sprint Cup race.

Ontario County Sheriff Philip C. Povero emphasized that the investigation into the incident is not a criminal investigation and there are no charges pending at this time. It is being considered an "on-track crash investigation."

The District Attorney office was contacted regarding the incident. "When the investigation is complete, we will review it with them," Povero said.

I said I think. I know how these things go at the track. I was part of a championship dirt team for several years and have been around dirt tracks for over 40 years. I've seen the same thing happen more than a few times except it never turned out tragically like this. No, I don't know what I stated is 100% correct, but I've been around long enough and seen enough that I have a good idea that is what happened.

Look, I know the young man shouldn't have gotten out of his car, but that's no reason for Stewarts fat punk *** to MURDER him! It was absolutely avoidable.

I don't think the kid was as far down on the track for the car in front of Stewart and that driver had to swerve to miss him.
And I still think it's possible Stewart was trying to spray him with dirt and a tragedy occured.

That crossed my mind & that is possible but
It still doesn't excuse the guy's behavior & it would still be an accident. Like somebody already said Stewart may be the only one who will ever know his intentions but I doubt it was to kill a guy.

The dude shouldn't have walked into the middle of a racetrack with a race in progress.
