Tony Stewart ran over another driver.

I don't think the kid was as far down on the track for the car in front of Stewart and that driver had to swerve to miss him.
And I still think it's possible Stewart was trying to spray him with dirt and a tragedy occured.

No. Look close. The front car slowed. Just like tony. The kid backed off the blue car, spotted tony and engaged. There was nothing he could do. Tony obviously tried to avoid him. ( once in his vision) these are high torque cars. They slide and spin at ease.

It's okay to admit you've never driven a race car and don't understand what goes into driving one.

It's not like a deer jumped out of the bushes on him, the kid was standing there for a while... It was avoidable

You obviously didn't watch the video then. He lets the other cars go (and almost was hit by the car in front of Tony) and jumps down just as Tony is coming into the turn, there was nothing Tony could do.

The basics of drifting performed by these dirt cars involve power to the rear wells, kicking the rear end out, then turning the wheel in same direction to keep from spinning out.

You can tell in slow motion that Stewart had gassed it right next to Ward because the rear end was going up the track, and he was turning the front tires to the right. I think Stewart did it on purpose trying to scare Ward, and misjudged how low on the track Ward was and hit him.

Bottom line, all the other drivers slowly drove around Ward on the low part of the track, why was Stewart in the middle of the track, and gunning his engine kicking the rear end out on purpose. Not smart.

I disagree. After all the other drivers had passed, Ward ran down literally directly in front of Stewarts path. Stewart never even saw him imo.

I spoke with a friend today who races at Nashville Fairgrounds regularly has raced dirt sprint cars and Tony is his favorite.

His assessment is Tony goosed it to spray or scare the kid and hit him. Terrible accident but Tony should have been bigger than that.

that's the first thing I thought. Like a jet ski or snow ski spray on somebody. That went terribly wrong with a guy closer than he thought.
I'm close to 100% believing that's what happened.

I am hesitant to draw such strong conclusions less than 24 hours after the incident.

why? Nothing has changed or will, besides biased testimony and 100's of fans that all see something differently. Might as well opine.

I dunno, I want to at least read the full police report, as they are likely to have evidence or testimony that we don't have at this point.

You know, due process and all that.

Cops aren't involved nerd. It's all internal.

To me it looked like Tony sorta slightly went at him trying to scare the kid, and didn't realize how close he really was.

I think everyone has watched the same videos and somehow drawn two completely different conclusions from what they've seen. Bias may have creeped into some without them knowing it. Without possible onboard video or audio, no one knows exactly what happened other than Stewart.
