Top 10 problems with UT bball

Rotation should have been settled in pre-conference play. This is one of CCM's weaknesses as a coach. Bench players must be very frustrated and thus no production. Moore sits for weeks then is put in a must win game. He played well for the most part, but his defense was a liability in the second half. He was lost and gave up a critical three late in the game.

Oh yea I agree. Also, same deal with DeMontre. Only seen him in the game a few times this year but he seems to make the most of the few minutes he does get.

1. Short Frontline - with both Stokes and Mayman playing at once, we are short and not a threat to block many shots.

2. Mayman missing too many layups and short shots - this really hurts

3. Poor free throw shooting - turns up in many games

4. Too many turnovers - partly scheme, but mostly we are lacking 1-2 quick guards with a great handle.... This is a big problem

5. Not getting many steals - not enough pressing or up tempo.... We're not getting enough easy baskets to help us out.

6. Defense is weak - especially closing out on 3's... We're not great in the paint bc were short down low....Surprisingly, this team appears lazy at times on defense.... The stats don't lie....

7. 3 point shooting - in many games is terrible..... This really makes it tough for us to come back when we are down.

8. This team has adopted a losing mentality... They find ways to lose close games instead of finding ways to win them.

9. Referees - we get bad calls all the time, bc our coach is not working the refs.

10. Coaching - it's substandard if you want to make the NCAA... Next year our bball team will be horrendous.... If CCM makes it to next year, then that will very likely be it for him... I would be shocked if we're not much worse next season.....

All in all, with all the problems of this team, there are many positives too ... However, we need to get on a big winning streak before the NCAA is just out of the question.....
My ten... 1. Martin 2. Boogerman Cheek 3. Hamilton ... Repeat two times and add Hamilton one more time for cause and effect. :cray:

Looking at the program, since the hiring of Martin, I noticed all of the games that we lost. The Austin Peay game, the College of Charleston game, The Oakland games, The losses in the N.I.T. in 2012 & 2011.

Then I look at this years roster. It is a good roster that a coach can win with.

Well, we aren't really winning, even with a good roster. So, when this roster changes ALOT in the off season, I would guess that next season, we will lose more than we are already losing.

End result: Martin will be gone in 2015!!!!!!

Bad part: No one ever wants to take the U.T. job. We usually hire our 8th or 9th choice.

I don't have an argument with that. Just because I don't think Bruce coming back would be best for the program doesn't mean I somehow think Martin is doing a good job. He is mediocre on a good day and this team turns the switch on and off randomly.

Wait, there are other options besides keeping Martin or bringing back Pearl?

You just blew the minds of 70% of this forum.

It's third in the SEC in scoring defense.

I'd take jerry green and his blue light special comments over cuonzo Martin any day of the week.

I argued this awhile back and get torched. IDC if you take Coach K's recruited players to the NCAA tournament, when you accomplish going to the NCAA tournament 3 times in a row it's not a fluke. So many people complain that UT isn't an attractive job in basketball, well guess what, that's what happens when you have an AD and Chancellor who believe low balling and pressing difficult, unneeded academic requirements for a state school is the best way to entice a coach. If we want a great coach, a proven NCAA winning coach, then it's going to take quite a bit of this $.

I'm sure we could bring Bruce back aboard for less money than any other likely candidate. Surely, he's chomping at the bit by now to get back in the saddle and we know how much he loves UT.

I have a question for you Martin lover's. Why did the player's call a meeting (players only), let me guess they were unhappy about their roles or lack thereof. And yes they were unhappy with CM, and that is not a guess. He just is not an inspiration nor coach. They are tired of him not standing up for them with the ref's, that is why we rarely get a call in our favor.

By the way, I think Cheeks has done more to destroy UT sports than any of the losers we have hired. He really needs to hit the road. Who the hell is supporting this guy?

Pearl worshippers are worse than the Bear worshippers at Alabama. At least Bryant's accomplishments were worthy of it.

That's an interesting analogy. Actually, I would say that Bruce Pearl did relatively far bigger things for UTBB than CPB did for UAFB in the first 6 years for both.
