He brought in a lot of thugs and was hit and miss with recruiting. He'd bring in a Chism and Harris and then get us a Swiperboy and Hall. Guys Pearl is not as great as everyone makes him out to be.

Do I want to keep Martin, hell no I want him gone. He is a mid major HC or assistant coach at best. Who do I want? BEN HOWLAND...3 final 4's make's Pearl's 1 little elite 8 laughable. His track record on getting top recruits and players in the NBA speaks for itself. I mean if you don't want the Kevin Love's, Russell Westbrook's, Jrue Holiday's etc. that's fine, I understand. Having a Tobias Harris once is alright I guess, but give me someone that's been to the final 4 3 times compared to someone that's only made it to the elite 8.

I'd take Pearl's 'mediocrity' over what we've got now any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

What makes TN think they are too good to hire Pearl? KY hired Calipari a known crook, Louisville rehired Petrino and on and on. They did much worse stuff that lie about some HS kids showing up for a hotdog at a cook out.

I'm great with howland but don't really trust the administration to hire him.....you are making an unfair comparison....pearl coached six yrs in a major conference with an elite eight that makes howland and his little sweet sixteen in his first six yrs in a major conference laughable.

They spin it any way they can to put Pearl in a bad light. Once Martin wins another game we will be headed to the final four again with page after page of statistics.

Watch how quickly they will turn on CM once he is fired.

God forbid that we still root for our university. He deserves some criticism, but it pretty much sums up what kind of person you are. Go root for someone else if you don't like it. I didn't want Dooley around in his third year, but I still rooted for the university that I graduated from. Not sure why anyone has time for this BS.

LOL, this is so true. Can't wait to hear the RPI numbers for the hundredth time. What does it matter if you are losing at home to similar teams. But we still have a 50% of making the tournament, quickly forgetting who the head coach is.......

Name me the coach who has been to the final four three times that you actually think we would have a chance at getting? In fact name me a coach who has been to one elite 8, besides Pearl, who might come to Knoxville ?

Not if you want him to lose so that he gets fired. Trust me, some want that to happen.

But it is difficult to differentiate that. If you want us to win, then a by-product is that the coach probably stays.

It's a very very small minority that would want that......I have no confidence but if he was to turn it around and fit my two requirements for a coach, I will be a Zo fan.

I agree. I am a very competitive person but apparently a Martin supporter because I want to win. I tend to wait on criticism until the season is over, but some have gone overboard this year.

I had this opinion bc I feel he has to recruit better to be the type of program I want us to be..this season cements that bc I think we are loaded with talent.

I agree that we have better talent than our record, but the folks pushing Elite Eight talent are crazy. Season is not over yet, so we shall see.

Then why so many that seem to disappear when we win, yet magically appear when we lose?

I wouldn't say it's a "very, very small" minority; a minority maybe but I would bet it's bigger than you think. I think it's about the same as those that claimed they didn't want Dooley to lose, but in reality they were very glad he did because that's the only way he'd be gone.

I still think this team will sneak into the tourney somehow, which does not bode well for the chances of firing Martin.

People post more when their emotions are into it.....they use a message board to vent.....it's not some big conspiracy of hatred.
