Most people seem to think that a Big East team couldn't compete with anybody because they're from the Big East which by any means isn't a powerhouse.
But my point was, that just because they're not in the SEC, doesn't mean they're not good.
Well, both of them have won a BCS Bowl in the last two years.
Who couldn't they compete with? Besides USC maybe.
you can't ever know what's going to happen in a one game situation.Just because the SEC is the best conference, and I fully concede that it is, doesn't mean other conferences aren't quality as well. It's not like it's the NFL vs Arena League. The disparity in quality is not of that magnitude. If it was, the SEC would never lose a non conference or bowl game because they'd be so hardened after playing amongst the truly elite.

it's playing in this conf. each week that takes its toll.
again, in a one game situation, anything can happen.Agreed, but on the flip side of the coin, the SEC generally gets the best recruiting classes. So they have more talent to get through that grind than a Rutgers or Louisville. Theres also the fact that while tough competition wears you down some, it also sharpens the team more.
Consider boxing. When the fighters are in training for a big match, they dont bring in weak sparring partners. They bring in other big time fighters to spar with. Yeah they go through hell, but that competition also makes them better. Sme thing applies i think, to some degree, in team sports. You cant get better without solid competition, in fact.
