Top Transfer Talent Flying Around...

Like every thread:

Look at how many guys we talked into staying for year 5.
Look at how many transfers we took.

Then do some math.

Should we cancel some scholarships to take a full transfer class?
We have space or we wouldn't be hosting and making offers. We need help on the oline desperately. The staff knows this. They're not closing

We worked to get our own guys to return first and are in on a couple good ones. It will happen
I assume most everyone is doing the above though. Harder for some teams stacked with talent like UGA/Bama to do when they have 5 stars sitting 3rd on the depth chart.

everywhere except to Tennessee.

Are we so stacked that we can't accommodate any additions?

Are we out of money?

Penn State just landed a 5* DB from UGA and a 4* from Florida. Penn State! A 4* CB from UGA went to lowly Purdue. Walter Nolen never gave us a look.

Of the top 100 rated transfers (247 Sports), Vols lost 1 (Baron-DE) and got 2 (Staes-TE and Brazzell-WR).

Still shopping for another tight end but that seems to be it. Don't believe they have interest in any other portal players at this juncture. Its not a money deal as much as ok with where they are. Things could change after spring.. JMO

Southern players eschewing Tennessee and going to Penn State, Purdue and Fresno State is baffling.

There's no better place to play in America than Tennessee. A few peers, but no place better, particularly if you're talented and looking for playing time.
You are correct !

But ... at the same time....

I wish our state wasn't so attractive to outsiders in general anymore. My small town culture is being corrupted at an exponential rate by outsiders moving in that are for more "enlightened" than the locals. They know everything about everything and they know all the more better ways of doing things than people who have lived here for centuries. I feel if things are so great where they are from they should return and be happy. Soon it will no longer be Tennessee.

Opps... did I get political... sorry ... wrong forum

Can we hire their coach?
In about 15 years coaching, the Penn State cornerbacks coach has coached 12 players to the NFL. if the Penn State website is correct.
In about 20 years of coaching Willie Martinez has coached 43 players to the NFL, if the UT website is correct.

I'm not saying Martinez is a great coach, but a lot of the things he gets blamed for (10 yard cushion on wideouts and too much soft zone coverage) is a Tim Banks decision, not Martinez.
He's not near as bad as our fan base thinks.

I am no insider and don't know how much UT has in it's NIL system.

I have read that we have plenty of cash available but we have not decided
to put it to use on the portal. There are several top OL avail and I would
opine that we make top notch offers to Heard and the OL from Alabama. This
is a critical position for our goal of making the playoffs next season.

Loose the Kraken cash now!!
