Tough but effective?

People thjnk Barton regressed because over the summer this board hyped him up to be something he's not. I think some people think he is his brother. Seriously. I know I've corrected at least one person who thought that.

He's been similar to how he played at Memphis in just about every category, except a:to, he's doing a great job taking care of the ball.

I thought he'd be a bit better, but he has been banged up so I'm hopeful we've yet to see his best.

What? You think Barton showed up in August and Martin has somehow made him worse? Get outta here with that crap. Go back to critiquing spacing. It has merit. This is garbage.

Hahaha big Ziti good one. Sparta does love him some spacing lol.

You think Barton is effective in a halfcourt game or fullcourt game? Are you incapable of understanding that a big part of player development and coaching is putting players in the right schemes and positions to excel?
Barton's best games were his first few. He's had one good game in the last 6. Is that progression or regression?

You either make them better by helping them excel or hold back their development by putting them in positions where there is less chance of success.

If a coach doesn't match his gameplan to the strength of his players then it shows in the teams output.

So with Trae it comes down to dribbling with his left hand and for Barton it's about how he's used.

Yeah. That's what I said.

Neither one has had any offensive coaching or had a coach teach them how to run a team and offense. Barton has been on the verge of a benching. Same as Trae last year @ 10 games in, iirc.

Player development hasn't been Martin's problem. The only ones that think that are those who think he is terrible at every aspect of coaching, which he is not.

Wes Washpun, who is tearing it up after being told to look around, says hello.
However, since CM isn't terrible, can you give me a few aspects of coaching where he has excelled?
Outside of offensive rebounding, what do CM's teams and players do well? This was asked the other day and there were no responses, so I'll ask again.

Why do you ask a question and say, oh but you can't count this. His teams rebound well and take care of the ball well, this has been addressed.

As for Washpun...tearing it up? If that's your definition of tearing it up, then Kenny Hall was a monster.

Washpun? Really?

Player development would be one.

I don't think Martin or his teams have done a lot consistently. He's won enough to tell me he's not as bad as many think.

I didn't say your first bs sentence. Go figure. I asked someone to name what his teams or players do well. Offensive rebounding is one. I asked for 2 more.
And you still can't do it.

pass? no
move? no
space? no
dribble? no
shoot? no
progress? no
defend dribble penetration? no
help d? no
box out? no
penetrate? no
ft's? no
zone d? no
zone offense? no
attack well? no
handle pressure? no
handle traps? no
play like a cohesive team? no
and more

Wash is 4th on his team in scoring, 2nd in assists, 3rd in rebounds, 1st in steals and 2nd in blocks. Not quite K Hall team rankings.

Rebounds well, takes care of the ball well, and is efficient on offense....the rankings support that.

I wasn't aware the MVC was the SEC, but ok.

Where's Trae rank on his team in those categories?

Last I checked, he had more assists than our 2 pgs combined.

averaging more pts than he did under CM if I had to guess. I've just seen them twice. Once losing to Ole Miss and a double digit loss to Vandy.
7 of their 9 wins are against nobody.

I've seen him a few times. He's the same player he was at UT, just in his natural position at SG. He's not a great two guard, as he can't really shoot or defend; he was a worse one guard though.

Washpun was decent, just couldn't dribble. He's still a turnover machine, probably ranks 1st on his team in that category as well lol.
