Transfer Portal 21-22

That's exactly what happened, they ran out of gas by the postseason. Which really sucked, such a highly regarded class that stormed the game going undefeated their first season went out with a whimper in the S16, their earliest exit in many years (ironic now). That UConn game was the only time Tennessee beat Taurasi, which might not have even happened if she hadn't fouled out.
You're slipping, Darth! Tennessee and UConn played each other twice in the regular season. Catchings fouled out of the first game, but did not play the second game since she was injured. That was the game where Gwen Jackson had a monster game.

i meant i heard becuz it was posted on here and on a site 😉

But you can also check with @Cb153181 who heard her say it on her instagram live 😉😉😉

I also "heard" some intriguing parts of her recruitment to UT and some things that happened while she was here..all good things. Those didn't come from a board or a site😉

what have you "heard"?
Thanks!

I never "hear" anything directly as I have zero reliable sources. Best I can do is try to make sense out of what I see out on social media; and, you know, out there, "2 + 2" doesn't always equal "4" !

it's that common core math i tell ya😂 but i get it. This is more of a fun (and sometime reliable) place for news. I've been lucky to be around some people at the right time.

Right, they lost at UConn earlier in the season with Catchings. They won the rematch at home without Catchings. As you said, it was arguably Jackson's best game as a Lady Vol. Great game, back and forth, and Taurasi was killing Tennessee as usual. Thank goodness DT fouled out, which sealed the win for the Lady Vols. As I said, it was Taurasi's only loss to Tennessee..

Rickea was on Instagram early this morning. Ppl were asking her questions about the next school she said she’s not decided. She is flying out to a visit today and possibly have another one next weekend. She said she could decided by the end of March or early April.

She also mentioned that she is looking for a team that she gets along with her teammates is a top priority. She wants to be apart of a team that gets along and basically not selfish on the court.
Since you listened to her IG chat, did she list all these schools as currently being under consideration, or schools she considered since she announced her decision to leave MSU? Do you recall the question/context ?

No she didn’t mention any colleges. They asked her would she rather help participate for a championship or be a bench rider and she said bench rider to win a championship.
Someone asked her was SC out because they have so many talented players and she asked why do yal keep saying that.
She was also asked about playing for 4 coaches and she said yeah that could be a possibility and then she said well it could just be 3 different coaches. They also asked does distance play a factor and she said yes then no. She still is attending and living in Starkville now. She said this the first time she’s been a full time student she hasn’t been doing anything basketball right now.

So, who typed those schools in that image I posted -- "Texas, Maryland, Tennessee, Iowa, LSU, South Carolina" ? Doesn't look like it was Rickea. Was someone asking a question?

yes they were asking her questions she was being asked a lot of questions and were answering most of them

The immortal game - the best game in women's basketball history. 24,600 fans, and not an empty seat in the house. The most "men's basketball" experience I can recall at a women's game. Two evenly-matched titans on the court, a tight game where both teams executed for forty minutes. ESPN coverage, scalpers on the street, ticket prices, the national media, the noise from the crowd. That game had everything.

My second fave LV game of all time, only slightly behind the GOAT, the regional final against No Carolina at Vandy in 1998. The last time I remember the TBA atmosphere for an LV game equaling what the men are getting now. No one expected us to beat UConn after losing Catch but Jackson, Lawson and yes, even Ace Clement were awesome. After Catch got hurt, the LVs awarded a Catch style blue headband to whoever hustled most the previous game, and Ace sported it proudly for her fallen roomie that night.

It was so fun I even remember exactly where I sat. The good ole days!

we should have a thread relating to memories of great games.

Those that enjoy and appreciate a minute by minute anticipation of a possible future player are entitled to their space interspersed with posturing on playing the social media game TAG: I'm right and you are wrong.

I thought the underlined statement was a given in all threads. Or is that negated by the blue font?

I wish we had contacted Jordyn Jenkins USC sophomore and determined if she had any interest in Tennessee. She could definitely play the four five and is a very efficient scorer and rebounder. I assume she wants to stay on the west coast, but never hurts to ask.

I’m still shocked they hired her. I don’t think she can coach a lick. Find her rather annoying and self righteous when I watch her interviews.

I give her 3-4 seasons there max and then that should be the last we hear of her.

Three players transferring including her best player looks like they are in a huge downward trend.

Yeah I was stunned to see her rehired in the PAC-12. She dipped just in time from CAL as they were about to have a significant rebuilding year with Anigwe leaving when she took the job with the Cavaliers.

Felt she was a lot like Joni Taylor. Young and brings good energy but not actually a good basketball coach and doesn’t improve her players. Anigwe was one of the most athletic players I ever watched but she was the same as a freshman as she was as a senior. If she had developed any range at all she would be one of the best players in the WNBA.

So far I feel that is one of Kellie’s biggest strengths. Every season we have seen the same players come back, but BETTER, than before. Across the board Kellie’s players improve. From the very best to the end of the bench you could see that progress was made in the off-season. That’s what a COACH does, she’s not just a recruiter. She’s gonna make you better too.

I look at people like Joni Taylor and Coach Yo, to me they are motivators and recruiters. Buck stops there though.

Interesting you mentioned Coaches Joni and Yo. When I watch Georgia games, it doesn’t appear that Joni does the in game Coaching. An assistant is the one talking to the team during timeouts, writing and calling up the plays, even in last minute, close game situations.

As for Coach Yo, I’ve seen her mean look, so the big smiles and laughs just come across as fake to me. Something about her makes me not like or trust her. Just my perception, I’m sure she has admirers as well.

Yes, Joni’s female assistant, Karen Lange, does most of the strategic coaching it appears. For me that doesn’t sit right. As a player when we went to the bench all eyes were on “Coach.”

If I were her AD I would not like seeing that. “Seriously, what are we playing you for?” Would be my first thought.

I’m not into Coach Yo. She’s a personality and one many young wbb players like. For me she’s too all over the place. Reminds me of Quentin Hillsman who I always thought was off his rocker as well. We see how that turned out…
