Transfer Portal 21-22

Kari Niblack (6-1 SR forward, Leesburg, FL) has entered her name into the portal, out of West Virginia WBB; 7.6 PPG & 4.0 RPG + 45 blocks in 2021-22; 1,000+ points, nearly 700 rebounds, and nearly 200 blocks in her four years at WVU

She’s a littke like Snoop. High motor player who crashes the glass. Undersized post player.

I believer she has had trouble with some nagging injuries?

Esmery Martinez is a player I definitely hope we reach out to if she chooses to transfer. She too has sone injury issues but even with her chronically bad knees she is a great rebounder and has really improved her outside shot.

Good player. Undersized, but she was very efficient. She will make a nice PF for a team somewhere.

Love watching Martinez play. Great motor and skillset.

Esmery Martinez is a great competitor, and has really improved her offensive skill set. I recall she signed with Miss. State out of high school, but then was released from her LOI. She ended up signing with Texas during summer 2019, and Texas even put out an official release, and her name was added to the official roster. Then, she was gone from the roster; nothing ever issued by Texas as to why she would not enroll. After that, she signs with West Virginia.

My second fave LV game of all time, only slightly behind the GOAT, the regional final against No Carolina at Vandy in 1998. The last time I remember the TBA atmosphere for an LV game equaling what the men are getting now. No one expected us to beat UConn after losing Catch but Jackson, Lawson and yes, even Ace Clement were awesome. After Catch got hurt, the LVs awarded a Catch style blue headband to whoever hustled most the previous game, and Ace sported it proudly for her fallen roomie that night.

It was so fun I even remember exactly where I sat. The good ole days!

I was at both of those games as well. That UNC game aged me about 10 years...

I think she had a bad ACL tear that maybe wasn’t surgically correct properly or did not heal well.

Thought Martinez was the best player at Hamilton Heights at that’s with Massengill, Cardosa and Balogun. She killed it in the National championship when they played the Hull twins

She played her freshman year though, so it didn't keep her off the court.

She was the type of player that Vic could have really used his last year at MSST.

I am close to a senior citizen but an adolescent boarder. Any way, the thing that always disturbed me was the way the twins repeatedly caught the wrath from Andy Landers. The terror and shame in their faces and the tenseness of their bodies reminded me of victims of abuse. I am not suggesting that this was Landers intent, but it is on him that he never seemed to modify his approach despite their extreme reactions. Yes, he could be gentle with them but once they made a couple of mistakes he would just approach them with so much rage in his face and tone. Despite that our rivalry was huge with Georgia during that era and that I wasn't drawn to them as players, I did feel sorry for them that they had that type of dynamic with their couch. Not surprisingly, that never progressed that much with such poorly attuned coaching even though they were quite talented. Andy at his worst.
Andy is a colossal a-hole. I can’t stand the way he treats Andraya. He’s condescending and way too sarcastic and not in a funny way but in a creepy uncomfortable way. If you couldn’t tell, I can’t stand him. Lol

"Virginia has hired Missouri State coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton as its new women's basketball coach" ----- wonder if Jasmine Franklin will now enter the transfer portal on the heels of this news --- don't know how bad her season-ending injury was, but she would be a good replacement for the LVs Dye -- I believe she would be a grad transfer if she goes that route (could be wrong about that)

I’m a little over recruiting players with a bad knee. Would prefer to see us go after a really mobile, healthy player.

I wondered what happened to her. She is a dynamic player when healthy. Evidently will never be a Lady Vol cause we needed her to come with Kellie in the beginning.

We really need to use those other two scholarships in the portal and they need to be two year players. A lot to replace after next season so still needing that post player and another guard that can shoot the three actually do it all. Portal already showing 531 players, but not a lot of P5 yet still some very good mid major players. The best players are still Jackson and that USC post player. I expect to see a huge rise in portal entries right after the NCAA Tourney ends.

The USC post player committed to Jackson State

Wow that is bad news and why? Guess she has her reasons.

My guess is usually academics when you see a transfer like that. USC is a pretty tough school, may not be on track to graduate from there and needs to go somewhere that she can focus more on her studies but still be on a competitive team.
