Transfer Portal 22-23

Man Kellie just keeps killing it in the portal. This could be our best team under her yet. I loved Horston but last 5 mins of close games she cost us a lot of them with her boneheaded turnovers. If we can cut those out this year with the better shooting and athleticism on the perimeter along with key manning the middle underneath the basket on defense this team could be special. Does anyone know if we are still trying to bring in coulibaly? (sorry if misspelled lol) that would be the icing on the cake and make us a true title contender.
I don't think were finished with the roster Coach Williams just posted like we were looking for more.

Yeah, Baton Rouge is a fun place to go to school as well. I’d choose LSU over SC just to not live in Columbia. It’s a nice town, but I’m picking that bayou every time!
Problem with LSU is the disparity between athletics and academics is huge . Have you seen what bad shape their library is in ? It’s awful . Ceiling tiles out and leaks everywhere . I heard it’s going to be addressed soon but how do you let it get that bad in the first place ?

When you need players in sports the money is not available elsewhere.

Poor leadership and years of neglect. This new president for LSU is pretty new though (think he used to be at SC), the former one was widely disliked for years and seemed to want to use that position to cash in for political opportunities instead of addressing problems

In terms of funding, I could be wrong but I thought the money athletics makes and what the school itself has are completely separate things. Its not like the university itself is paying for all the nice things the sports programs has.

Really hard to say who gets credit but Striplin and Hollinghead were both far better by seasons end than when it started. Rickea Jackson had the best year of her career. Horston was better than when she started. Powell started getting better there in the last few games of the season. I don't know who you give credit to, but all five of those players were better than they had been anytime before. Darby has definitely improved from almost nothing as a freshman to a 40 percent shooter from the three last year. Not giving credit to anyone just know all these players got better than they were after the season started.

Don't forget Jordan Walker, who was a much better player at end of this season than when she came in.

I read the other day LSU was -10M for the year when they hired Mulkey.

I have mixed feelings on Del Rosario after watching her in the McDonald’s AA game. She is a true big, yes. Needs to get in better shape also? Yes. Potential is there, but some red flags were seen from that game, specifically her build/shape, maybe she gets serious in college and transforms ala Boston etc….but she has more work to do than Boston did to be sure. Any school would have taken her on potential alone however.

As for Key, the hope is she gets back to herself from two seasons ago. We all saw her size and condition at the end of last season, and tbh it all has to be put into perspective now given her health condition. But she will need a great offseason to get back to that sophomore level as I know most will agree. I see no reason why she will not.

Overall we need to go to bat for our current players the way people here are going to bat for Justine the rival transfer . If you want to praise her and wish her so much success then become commodore fans this is strictly LV territory lol we do not care about Shae Ralph and no longer about Justine.

Who is "we?" Speak for yourself, please.

Jordy won us a lot of games with her rebounding and hard nosed drives to the basket.

Rosario's success in college is 100% dependent on her work ethic to get in better physical shape. If not she will be Hannah Gusters 2.0.... Rosario seems to be more internally motivated to me though at this point of her career than Hannah was (who peaked midway through HS and stopped showing progress since then)

But Kim has worked well with these type of bigs before but there has to be a commitment by a player to transform their body to be able to play at the next level. If not she will continuously get exploited by more athletic bigs even if she has a size advantage. This is also why I believe she won't play a whole lot year one and why the addition of Morrow for them is probably smart on their part. They know beyond Reese and Sa'Myah there is uncertainty she will be able to contribute at such a high level early.

Honestly excluding her fitness, someone needs to change her FT shooting form. Ridiculously atrocious for a top recruit and is not going to be acceptable by any college level standards.

From someone I follow on twitter we are not going after Coulibaly anymore. So who the next player we get is totally unknown. Of course they could be wrong but they are usually right.
Why won’t we keep the option open, is she was still considering us? She’s the final piece we need, I don’t see anyone else in the portal as of now.

Morrow to LSU.
Contrary to the general public opinion. I think she will do well down there and compliment Reese well. She will definitely help take some of the pressure off of her.

They will be loaded but the most talented teams don't always win a national title as we have seen many times though. But its definitely a good problem to have as a coach

I think Del Rosario and Velez are too dependent on one another. A topic all it’s own, but I don’t think Kim really had any interest in Velez. Only took her to land Del Rosario.

Del Rosario moved much better as a sophomore and junior. Felt she was slower and more tentative in her highlights this season.

She’s a good rebounder based on size alone but does not have any rebounding technique. That will be a huge problem for her in the SEC if she isn’t willing to work on it. You can’t just stand and reach over girls in the SEC. You’re gonna have to put a body on someone, create space and pursue the basketball. Something her teammate Reese is incredible at.

LSU officially VERY dangerous. I said yesterday I didn’t think they were any better than last season so far based on who they added. Morrow changes that.

They now have two of the best rebounders in the entire country on the same team.

Still think they could have some PG issues. Really don’t think Van Lith is a PG, Kim can coach her up I’m sure, but I don’t think she’ll be nearly as effective in that role.

JMO Barnum is better and I don't know if we even contacted her. She is a one year player, but as players she could help us more of the two.

Barnum doesn’t rebound hard enough for me. Improved that last season but still not where it could be especially since she was Arkansas primary rebounder. Best rebounder on an abysmal rebounding team lol.
