Transfer Portal 22-23

For this reason I think VanLith man struggle a bit, especially early in the year. Kim primarily wants her PG to be a playmaker, not a scorer. She’s used to volume shooting and that’s not what Mulkey wants. She’ll be wanting the ball in the post like always. May not sit well with VanLith unless she’s truly bought in to winning a championships over individual accolades.
I will be interested how it plays out. Johnson and Williams what will be their role. They have a very strong five starters. I guess Reese to center and Morrow at the four. Van Lith point and Williams and Johnson at the two and three.

Contrary to the general public opinion. I think she will do well down there and compliment Reese well. She will definitely help take some of the pressure off of her.

I wasn't aware general public opinion thought Morrow wouldn't do well at LSU. If that's the case, it's a very ill-informed opinion. Mulkey just landed the two best transfers in the portal...

Sounds like two more years of Reese plus Morrow….add in Flo and Williams plus the others…Mulkey just grabbed the mantle, will be a hard row to wrestle away next few years. The Portal always keeps things fluid now of course, but everyone else in the SEC has work to do.

I suspect things just got immensely harder for many SEC teams to climb to the top.

Quote from the flick 13th Warrior: “It will be a hard fight to get clear of here”…..Beowulf

A fight is never as it seems..

I think we line up fairly well against LSU or anyone in the SEC now. Key, Hollingshead, Jackson, against Del Rosario. Reese. and Morrow. Van Lith and Johnson vs. Wells and Spear. They have Williams. Smith, and Poa off the bench. We have Puckett, Darby, Powell. and Striplin. I think we closed some of the gap with the Spear signing. Let us see if we get anyone else that closes it more.
Don't forget about about Wynn...I think her offense will improve and the defense has always been there...🧡🏀💙

So your deflection tactic of showing any positivity from getting Spear is to comment on how good LSU is? I think everyone in the country knows how good they’re going to be.
Just say that you want the LVs and KJH to fail, and I think people would take you more seriously. It’s fine if you want to point out negatives, but when you ignore the positives (which there are vastly more of) then you lose credibility. You’re very smart, but people see right through your posts.

I think most are thinking players are going to get jealous or upset they aren't getting all the shots or being the star of the show

But I can't see how HVL or Morrow could transfer to LSU not knowing they aren't going to be the star of the show every night like they were at their former programs. Kim is pretty brash, she probably told them what their roles will be if they did come in. I honestly think HVL is ring chasing at this point. The inside presence she will get at LSU is much better than what Louisville would have. Morrow seems to want to be in the spotlight, win and cash in on NIL opportunities.

I saw an interview of Kim talking about the portal last year. She straight up told Ladazhia during her visit she didn't want her to come there if she wouldn't take care of her body and do the things needed to compete night out unlike what she did at Missouri.

I have an issue with any blanket statement that HVL and Morrow were the two best players from the portal. I can live with two of the best available, no issues there. Much more than stats goes into the evaluation here of course. You are a knowledgeable poster Darth, from your post I suspect you would lay claim to the theory that LSU is an automatic shoo in for SEC and perhaps National champions next year.

State your case plainly, please, so we can all see the early prognostication. Lest we have to think you only give short handed thoughts, the type that are easy. Try the hard ones out, give us a longer term look. Are you saying it’s slam dunk all LSU now? Btw, I have no beef with you, but I see through the veneer of your approach.

But she’ll be the only player who would start for them. They’re going to be better than they were this year. Preseason #1 is a lock now

I would think Spear would be a starter for them. And/or if they wanted to go big and defensive-oriented, start (a healthy) Key and move Morrow to the 3 (which would benefit Morrow the most for a future WNBA career). And in that scenario I think you'd still start Spear over Johnson, but maybe it's a toss-up.
