College Women's Basketball Transfer Portal: Expanded Top 20 Rankings for 2023
College Women's Basketball Transfer Portal: Expanded Top 20 Rankings for 2023
Betts #6 ?
Coulibaly is now following all of the Texas A&M players. I wonder what’s the point of leaving Auburn.
I ask for your forbearance as I establish context.
We have a log jam in the river of portal recruiting progress.
Not an insider, so this is theory. Coach Harper is only taking one or two players maximum from the portal. Kellie has a pecking order of who she wants. Maybe that order is Jefferson, Donarski and Coulibaly. All three players we are "interested" in have a pecking order of where they want to play next year. Of course they all want a "Cinderella Story" of winning the NCAA National Championship. So hence the log jam. I think, Tn may be second or third on each of these three players list but they don't want to commit or burn a bridge ...hence the log jam!
I have a child that has three degrees from UVA (soon to be just UV). At a football rivalry game with Virginia Tech (a very good school) a few years ago all UVA students wrote shirts inscribed with the following phrase, " Virginia Tech was my safety school."
I think Donarski following all players at Indiana and Coulibaly following all players at Texas A@M is a version of my, "Safety school."
Break the Log jam Kellie.
Does this mean 1 or 2 after wells transfer.
If everyone goes to LSU that people keep saying are going there, they will have a roster of 40 players. No more than two after Wells. Maybe only one depending on which player we sign.
Look for Coulibaly to go to LSU.
When Coach Mulkey came to LSU she brought most of her staff with her from Baylor.
For all the new and young posters here, Coach Mulkey made the ultimate hire last year (2022) after her first year at LSU.
After reviewing her staff she decided to hire Bob Starkey. Not sure if someone left or they created another non-coaching postion. Probably the latter, as LSU's non coaching staff looks more like a football roster than a women's basketball staff.
Bob Starkey spent 2021 as Johnnie Harris, assistant at Auburn. Remember Coulibaly played for him. Before that Bob was the defensive guru for Coach Gary Blair ( Vic Shaffer and Harris) at Texas A#M for nine years winning one National Championship.
But more importantly than that he was Pokey Chapman's associate head coach for three years at LSU and interim head coach at LSU after Chapman was fired.
During those four years he carried LSU (granted he had Fouts) to the final four (4) times. Due to family illness he declined the head coaching job and served two more years as Van Chancellors' assistant at LSU.
He was hired at LSU to fix their defense. Do you think he earned his money.
Experience matters!

Dead serious. You really don’t know how this all works do you? I do, and it’s really not all that complicated or nefarious. It’s fun to think so or make excuses though when you don’t know. There are many exceptions but most top kids are still going where they want to go regardless of NIL or $. There are always exceptions but most top kids get what they want regardless of school. I meant the school choice plays little for the very top kids. So many are still going where they want regardless of money or NiL Coaches and playing for the programs they want and love are still a main driver whether you know it or not. Kids still pick their dream schools and most of them get their money regardless of school or where they go. If you’re not a top kid there really isn’t much you can do anyway. It’s nice to use it as an excuse for why you lost out though if you’re a fan with an agenda. I still coach and talk to a lot of D1 kids and you would be surprised at how off base and ignorant so many people are. It’s laughable. You serious Clark?
Coulibaly will be a great addition to our team. She was 2nd team all SEC as a Sophomore and again as a Junior. The starting lineup of Key, Jillian, Rickea, Wells, and Coulibaly would be the most balanced offense we have had in eons, with all very capable of scoring double digit points on most nights. This lineup could potentially be good on defense as well.[/QUOTE
We would still need a SG right?
I never said it was a failure I mean if we not for her we not for her but there was mutual interestLost? Who said we ever wanted her? She's a nice player, but there are better options for us still out there. Every player who ever signs with any other school is not necessarily a recruiting fail for KJH and staff, in spite of what you might read here.
