Transfer Portal 22-23

That clause was discussed at length when Wells signed. She did have some of her worse scoring and shooting games against some of the better comp, but also had some of her best games against them, like against Louisville. So it was mixed result. Darth, who is a Wells SuperFan, said the notion was stupid. I'm sure he'll turn up and explain.

The Coulibaly to A&M rumors were last week when they were all following her. Not sure if she visited. Yesterday, TN players and coaches started following her and Coach Sam dropped strong hints about a French speaking visitor, which AC is. Strong possibility she visited here yesterday. Plus Pissiot aburptly decided to leave this late in the portal scramble, probably indicating an incoming was emminent.

I'm a little worried that yesterday turned out not to be the "great day" that Sam promised. Sounded like they thought whoever visited was going to commit and apparently it didn't happen.
what makes you think it didn’t happen ?

Maria confirmed AC was on campus yesterday

I saw this little clause RE Wells:

"Wells struggled against most of Belmont's top competition this season..." Possible warning sign, as it would be for any player that is jumping up in competitive class.
Louisville vs. Belmont - Women's College Basketball Box Score - November 13, 2022 | ESPN

Seems false right away as first game I found versus Louisville she did not struggle. Louisville vs. Belmont - Women's College Basketball Box Score - November 13, 2022 | ESPN

Villanova vs. Belmont - Women's College Basketball Box Score - November 25, 2022 | ESPN Played fine against Villanova

Belmont vs. Georgia - Women's College Basketball Box Score - December 17, 2022 | ESPN Ok at Georgia

Belmont vs. Iowa - Women's College Basketball Box Score - November 20, 2022 | ESPN She did struggle with her shooting at Iowa

That was about the only top teams they played so overall against all four she was 19 of 45 in the four games for 42 percent. Take out the Iowa game she went for 15 of 27 for 56 percent. The Iowa game was the only one she struggled making only 4 of 17 all the other three she shot the ball well.

Could have, and something is delaying the announcement. But the way everything was being tweeted and posted yesterday, it felt like a BOOM would be imminent.
I would say she may be taking more visits if we don't hear soon. She won't be the first player we haven't closed on. I would think if it is Tennessee without doing anything further you would get that announcement today. Otherwise she must be looking to take more visits and that won't be good news for us.

kellie typically waits till after the player announces to tweet the “boom.” it could just be that she’s waiting for her own time. with rickea, i didnt expect her commitment when she did, but low and behold it happened.

Huge news from the “best” mid major player in the portal (personally I love wells)

I’m wondering if Jefferson isn’t so great academically. Didn’t seem to be as much interest as you would expect for how good her numbers are.

Both Louisville and UNC are desperate for scoring where we are not with Jackson returning and the addition of Wells.

We are desperate for scoring, we need another scoring option and she would have been a great fit.

No we are not. Difference of opinion there. Right now we have more scoring returning than we did last season. By far.

Jefferson would not have been a good fit if academics are at play. Louisville and UNC are historically schools that care little about that, sadly.

Do u have inside knowledge about academics or are speculating? We need more scoring if we want to be in a final four and competing for a championship. We have one player that I trust to get a bucket in big games and that Rickea, if we had Jefferson that would be another to go along with the other role players. Kayla Padilla is still out there, maybe we have a chance with her.

It would be a big jump for her to come from an Ivy League school to Tennessee, but I guess it could happen. I figured she might be an option for Stanford.

Looks like Joni at A&M just got two verbals. I
hope one of them isn’t Coulibaly.

I was hoping we would hear an announcement today after coach Sam’s tweets. Wouldn’t be a good look for a player to visit TN one day and commit to another school the very next day.

We need athletes that can get up and down the court and create offense

I think it was going to be us or them and don't like the fact we haven't gotten an announcement so we'll see if they are the winner probably real soon.

Would make no sense for Coulibaly to go there but you never know. A&M will be a bottom dweller again. Joni can’t coach and does not develop players. She’s got nice style and is friendly which gets her commitments.

They were horrendous this season though. Being a new coach isn’t a good excuse anymore. Coach Mulkey got that title in year 2 and Coach Abe had UGA playing better than they ever did under Joni.

Heard we were in on this player about a week ago. She was just a freshman this season would have three years to play. She shot the three at 37 percent but only around 40 percent overall. She is a quick guard that could give us another guard to help press opponents when we need to.

Not a good look if were losing recruits and transfers to the worst team in the SEC .

Joni is a good recruiter. It’s just the bit that comes after that she struggles with. I think she’s an awful basketball coach and does not develop players well.

Everyone I ever saw play for her looked the same as a freshman and a senior. Just no upward movement in their game. Can’t think of any players she coached who made it to the pros and stuck.

Baker is extremely talented but a head case and I suspect that doesn’t get any better under Taylor.
