Transfer Portal 22-23

Exactly. This Avery stuff is a distraction, and an annoying one. Great if we want to give another TN girl a spot next to Edie. But if we're arguing over whether she might be as good as Tess, by definition she isn't relevant to our search for an impact player. The point is to upgrade the 2 guard spot, not tread water. If not a significant upgrade, why bother? I thought we were not going to recruit this kind of player any more.

Can they pretty please get back to serious biz of finding a 2 guard next week? And a back up post while we're at it.
I agree with you in that we need a significant upgrade at the 2 guard spot. Unfortunately, striking out on high school recruits leaves us in a do or die position with transfers.
If, for some reason, we are not able to secure the services of a couple of the top transfers, we will be left holding an empty bag.
You shouldn't paint yourself into the corner of MUST having to get multiple top transfers, but here we are. Which is why I don't understand some posters here completely disregarding high school recruits.
There are 3 sources of recruits:
Domestic high school grads, the transfer portal and foreign players. While it seems as though we've made cursory attempts at foreign players, it doesn't seem to be an area of major importance to the coaching staff. I could be wrong here but that's how it appears to me. That leaves 2 viable sources for recruits. One of which we have completely whiffed on. So what's left ? The transfer portal and the do or die position that we are presently in.
Let's say that we get one of the top portal seniors that fills our need to upgrade the 2 guard position. Great for this year, but what happens the following year ?
We will need an entire new team with our best players graduating. That is the overarching problem of not having ANY high school recruits from the last 2 years. There's no base of underclassmen to fall back on if you don't get what you want out of the transfer portal. And that precarious position will repeat itself almost every year.

Stats are stats and they provide a clear picture into how a player is playing on the court. You say a kindergartens take, but those stats aren't lighting up any highlight real. Tess Darbys stats are heads and tails better than this player on both ends of the floor. Think about that for a second.
I said before that backups is probably all KJH will finish the roster out with but she isn’t going to win no more games this year than last with what she has now. We need top players period

I'd like to ask, are you contributing? or are you willing to contribute? I'm sure the same NIL sponsorships for the football team is also contributing to the basketball, as well and maybe even baseball. It is fair to ask those questions if you are spending your money but many ask those questions just to be nosey and have no intent to contribute and their only intent is to continue to bash what is and is not being done.

Iowa took one star and a good player to a championship game and upset the number one team in the country who up until that point hadn't loss all season. Find the right pieces to put around your star (Rickea) and see how things turn out.

I like the kid, just thought she had a ton of work to do. 6-4 is nice size, but she was going to need another year or so to get some decent playing time if she got much physically stronger, more consistent with her shot, and moved her feet better on defense. Bigger players take longer to adjust to the college game. That is a given.
time on the court, like Darby got, would have netted the same results
24 min a game on the floor and anyone is going to show improvement
and it ain't about girth, its about heart....I know Justine has heart

TOP 3 coming soon ! Could Tennessee one of the top 3 ?

Other than those two Fountelroy is a lot better option as well. Much more athletic and a better three point shooter. JMO were not after Avery at all so why we keep talking about her? She will probably end up at ETSU or some of the other smaller schools.
Padilla is actually a better 3pt shooter but I get your point.

I’ve said the same thing plenty of times, I doubt we even make the sweet 16 with this roster, I hope we get someone good soon.

Avery Strickland Stats | ESPN

There you have it played 20 minutes a game for Pitt a terrible team and scored 6.2 ppg and 1.7 rebounds. Shot fifty percent from the free throw line. I surely hope this is not the best we can do.

We can’t do any better, Kellie is being picky enough to keep signing mid-major talent to compete with top programs 😩

Assuming it’s Avery, anyone know why she wasn’t recruited from HS? Please exclude any negativity.
