Transfer Portal 22-23

I could be wrong but I’ve watched a few of her games now but I don’t think she will be much of a scorer in big games for us. If u look how she moves with the ball it’s just like Powell I don’t see great handles to be able to create space since she smaller, and I don’t see great shot making, but she is quick so that could help but for me I look for more in a guard. I do hope I’m wrong and she can give us around 20ppg in the big games especially.

Not arguing but she shot the ball 48.6 % overall, 45.5% from 3pt and 86% from FT. i think she can score the ball but i've watched more highlights recently. I'm not saying she will average the 19.5 she did last year but i think we will see more consistent scoring from the PG

When all the top 25 portal players say where they are going to I don’t think any of them will be coming here. If you look at where most of them are projected to go there want be a lot to choose from. Hopefully we have a silent commit. I’m sure some on here probably know who if we have one.

She’s an upgrade for sure, let’s see how it plays out.

South Carolina fans seeing Van Lith on a visit to LSU...

Per a LSU insider, LSU is in a great spot to land HVL but mentioned Stanford/SC are pushing for a visit but hasn't scheduled one yet... did say its possible she takes another visit or two but no timeline or final decision yet

Her dad seems focused on maximizing NIL and exposure. While Stanford offers her the chance to be closer to home and with the perks of an education from there, their NIL is in the stone ages....

SC would seem like an odd fit but while SC has talent, no one has exactly proven much yet

UCLA is cutting a rug right now, HVL should check them out. West coast makes sense for her as it's her home, as does LA if she's hoping to max social media exposure. Pretty glam locale. Can ya'll tell I'm trying to keep her out of the SEC?

Actually though if HVL does go to LSU to me it's really a lateral pick up; she's a good replacement for Morris but not a big improvement. Also I still think the chemistry lab at LSU is going to blow sky high at some point and HVL would be fuel for that fire. So while West Coast is my first choice for her, I don't think it's endtimes for the rest of the SEC, anymore than it already is, if she goes to LSU.

I suspect Stanford--one of America's top 5 academic universities--isn't buying in too much on this NIL nonsense, bribing players to sign with your
school. NIL is crass BS and goes against the grain off schools with high ethics. The Ivies have the richest alums in America--they could put together the biggest deals--but they're not going to do NIL. NIL is more for big universities that are more about athletics than academics--like LSU, OSU, SEC. NIL exemplifies the corruption of major-college athletics.

Speaking of UCLA. Its going to soon be put up or shut up for Cori Close. Lots has been made of her coaching career at UCLA. If she can't make a deep NCAAT run with some of the talent she has in the next couple years....

I don't see her going to UCLA with Rice handling the ball. I think HVL wants to be the main ball handler, she would get that at LSU. Someone of her size ain't going to make a WNBA roster playing off the ball. She has to develop that other skillset more.

I still haven't heard any type of interest in UCLA from HVL camp. She is likely going to a school that has a shot for a deep NCAAT run while being able to elevate her NIL game. That limits the amount of schools to choose from. The likely hood of her making a WNBA roster is very slim so she will probably go somewhere where she can cash in as much as possible the next year or two.

This all day. I’m not impressed. She lands lots of nice players but has yet to do anything of substance with them. I just don’t see it.

She’s Geno’s homegirl and I think he often steers recruits he doesn’t have room for toward her program.

Good lord Reese and HVL would be absolutely lethal together...

How reliable is the LSU insider? I’m just asking because I heard SC is in a great spot to land Te-Hina Paopao. Seems she’s already visited and we should be hearing a commitment in coming weeks. Idk don’t shoot the messenger lol.

I really don’t get the hype in HVL. she’s a volume shooter with a bad attitude. If she starts off the game bad, she will shoot 30 shots just to get her ppg high. I’ve watched her a ton and have never been quite impressed.

She will be a lot more effective in a secondary scoring role, something she never had at Louisville...

The thing is Reese gets in her teammates ears and pumps them up, and instilling the confidence in them.

Her numbers were better prior to last year but I am going to assume her shooting percentages go up if she goes to another top team and actively shoots better quality shots rather than jacking up 30 a game for Louisville.

Not saying she is the best player out there but she is very good and would thrive playing with some better talent/supporting cast.

Pretty accurate. They just said she may go for another visit or two, she hasn't actually scheduled anything

While SC will be very talented, I have no doubt Dawn will try to bring in some more proven players. Its probably a stretch to ask all those freshmen and bench players to do it all from the get go. She will try to get some proven talent to help

Hailey Van Lith Stats | ESPN

Destinee Wells Stats | ESPN

As far as Van Lith vs Wells we did fine. Van Lith comes in with a 1.16 and 48 while Wells comes in with a 1.33 and 53. So Wells was the far more efficient player. They go about the same in assists, rebounds, and turnovers.

In their head to head Wells goes for 20 on just 10 shots attempts Van Lith scored 25 on 22 shot attempts. Van Lith gets a lot of her scoring from shooting the ball so much 41 percent from the field for the season.

We could match up quite well with LSU or almost anyone if we could just get two strong players one that plays inside and one great rebounding guard that can also shoot the outside shot somewhat efficiently.

Were going to be better from the three Wells went for 45 percent last season and is a career 40 percent shooter. There is Tess around 40 percent and Ace is capable of the high 30's even though she shot 34 percent as a freshmen last season.

I think we take two more players on the roster really don't want to go in any season with less than 12. Probably see Edie get a scholarship for next season as well.
