Our knowledgeable fans here don't seem to understand Jeff Walz actually did not have one of his more talented teams this past season. HVL HAD to be a volume shooter for the team to be successful, and she carried them all the way to the Elite Eight (which is further than Tennessee made it btw).

I suspect a big part of the reason she is looking to move on to LSU is she would no longer have to shoot 30 times a game and shoulder the burden of carrying the offensive load... those looks are suddenly going to come a lot easier when you have a Reese in the paint.

Louisville was the preseason pick to the win the ACC but they struggled like Tennessee did with their non conference schedule. They sort of got bailed out by in the conference schedule by having to play Boston College, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse twice and only have to play Duke, North Carolina, NC State, and Virginia Tech once. I will give Louisville credit for making it to the Elite 8 like they were predicted to.

Walz had 6 players graduate, 5 players transfer out and he had 5 players transfer in. He has to depend on portal because Louisville has currently has no incoming 2023 HS recruits and 3 freshmen and one sophomore transfered out of the program. He's like his former boss Brenda Frese who has 3 or more players transferring in and out on more or less on a yearly basis.
