The only limit is the 85 overall number. Tennessee is docked 12 scholarships to be spread out over the next 6 years, so we’re expected to reduce the number by 2 per year for the next 6. So that puts us at 83 per year during that span.

By my count, Tennessee is right at the 83 number right now, but that counts guys who will possibly leave like Jabari Small, Jeudy-Lally, and others.

Bottom line, we have to be at that 83 number by August, so we’ll likely be over it in the spring, then others will leave. Hope that helps.

Pretty sad but it shows how Toothless the NCAA has become. It appears we are always the Example. Sad. Waiting for the Michigan example to be set after the season.
This is where NIL and other extras kick into the mix or focus on the portal to come into play. 6 Years with added onto self imposed restrictions. Penalized the athletics coming here while the others are long gone. Other spin of this is that the AD is sitting quietly?

I am not going to stress over 2 OFFICIAL counters per year. Gotta believe we can add those back with NIL driven offers to some development targets or MAYBE incentivize a couple of guys by paying them to give up their on field slots to become interns or Jr. analysts and sign others that hit the field and reports.

Worst case lower tolerance levels for non productive rules offenders and run them off. The elimination of initial counter ceilings makes work arounds pretty easy with NIL creativity.
