'24 Transfer Portal

Delete this post now! Otherwise you are about to get bombarded by multiple posters who think this staff can do no wrong and have perfect evaluations for everyone they recruit.

Afterall who are you? Just some guy on an online message board. Get a life! And don't quit your day job to be a scout! How dare you have an opinion!
Dude get over 🙄 your one post being questioned. It is a two way street right? We can question players but not each other?

You got me. I am an unintelligent fat lady.

If there’s a missing piece to our recruiting that’s not money related, I don’t know what that could be. Certainly don’t think uf, miami, auburn have anything of utmost importance that we don’t have. Maybe occasionally distance from home a factor? Or a position coach with a long relationship. I dunno.

All I know is big time talents at position of need enter and go elsewhere without mention of involvement from us. Then we hear we’re looking for the Cody shraeders of the world, which are fewer and farrer between with less likelihood to pan out. So yeah I’d like to see us more aggressive in the portal in getting top talent and I’d like to see us close on some recruits that we supposedly lead for and could have been difference makers for the program.
According to VQ the issue is 2 parts.

1. Guys learning on the job in the SEC. Like Alec this year and Kelsey Pope last year.
2. Our board is not wide enough to offset misses.

We put too many eggs in too few baskets and had
underexperienced guys take some lumps.

Josh likes to promote from within and it may work, but we've had growing pains. TE is the best example this year and WR (one take) was a good example last year.

It's interesting that Athlon is reporting OM is joined by Bama, Georgia, and Texas in pursuing Tyler Baron. If true, he's more highly thought of than many of us give him credit for.
He was great at the beginning of the year. Numbers would've looked a lot better if teams weren't allowed to hold him every play.

So VQ is commenting on recruiting struggles as well? How dare they???!!

Or maybe it’s a plan to get us to overpay for him to get him back

The world may never know

They described it more favorably than most on here though.

Their take:
We closed the 1st half of the cycle on path to set a record, but we closed the back half with some bogeys, which makes it seem worse than it is.

Other than TE, we're fine on recruiting the offense. We need more on defense. Whiffing on all the big time DL has hurt us.

He is really good. If any of our fans don't realize that, then it's just an indictment on how f'n dumb they are.

As for Tyler Baron...he can go f*** himself. Just go to the league. What a joke.

That’s a little harsh.

However, if he goes to one of our main rivals after entering the transfer portal twice, he’s not a VFL.
