'24 Transfer Portal

Let’s see how that works out for ole miss. Banking on one season while throwing away a programs future may not work out for them in the end. Cause little do they realize what they’re doing isn’t sustainable. Good for them on next year they will be pretty damn good, but after that I guarantee they will be mediocre or just straight suck for a long ass time
Maybe it works out for them. Maybe it doesn't. I'm guessing Kiffin is just trying to make a push to see if it helps him recruit the high school ranks better. That and/or to try to beef up his resume, even at the potential cost of hurting Ole Miss longterm. This all in hopes of landing a job at a program where sustained success in recruiting is more feasible.

Either way, I'm not advocating replacing the whole roster with transfers. I'm simply advocating for Juice Wells. If it was up to me I would go hard for 4 positions, one player at each - WR, TE, DB, and DE. Not so much changing the whole roster, but adding 4 impact players to each of these position.

Might turn out great for Kiffy, but don't forget that aTm spent like drunken sailors and grabbed a legendary class. Didn't get such a great return on that investment. Time will tell which method of portal work is best. Heck, both might work well, but we will at least have a lot of our portal guys for a couple of seasons. Gonna be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Yes, but I argue we risk a similar, though not as dramatic, outcome as Texas A&M if we don't sustain our success.

The problem with Texas A&Ms approach is that they were relying heavy on young players to carry their team and unfortunately didn't have enough immediate success after that all star class which led to Jimbo getting fired. Maybe if they used the portal better to find some upper classman difference makers until their young class became upperclassman.

As for us, until this recent flurry of guys returning, we were also going to run the risk of having a very young and inexperienced team next year. We severely lacked sophmores and juniors this last season. Sure we have some decently rated young talent coming up, but nothing is surefire. If we come out and lay an egg next season becuase we relied too much on these young players carrying the load, even though they may be improving, it could severely hamper our ability to take the next step up in recruiting. We likely would take a step back.

Lincoln Reilly has lot control already lol.

I saw this on twitter as well... to be honest a little puzzling to me... because it felt like he is/was expected to be the incumbent starter with Caleb Williams going pro..

Made me wonder, if Caleb Williams is coming back for another year, due to NIL opportunities in LA, plus expanded Playoff, I don't think he's officially entered his name in draft.. but that seems crazy to forgo NFL Draft when your expected to be #1 pick.

Looks like KST QB Will Howard will end up at USC and Nelson may be upset because he didn’t think that he would have to compete for the job.

Because they lose every starter but one next year just looking at their roster and portal class
Some coaches will be better at this than others. The used car salesman type can reload. I just wonder how the on and off field team chemistry will work out year after year.

In defense of Kiffin, I trust his ability to develop and scheme for more than I ever trusted Jimbo’s.

How much money did Ole Miss have to spend? I know they’re known as the more preppy collared shirt and sundresses compared to miss st, but I didn’t think they had this much to get all these guys
Ole Miss is old south money. They’re sitting on gold mines of cash from alumni.

They aren’t going to make the playoffs and paying a lot of players at once is a recipe for disaster especially if some of the higher paid ones don’t live up to their hype while some of the bargains exceed theirs

Their schedule is very weak next year. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them in a 12 team playoff

TAMU spent all that money but didn't buy a QB. Nor did they have a creative offensive mind on staff. I think it'll work out better for Ole Miss, but we'll see.

They aren’t going to pass Alabama or Georgia and we are under the false impression that the SEC is going to get 4-5 teams into the playoffs

They don’t play Bama next year. Their schedule is set up for a run.

And you don’t have to pass a team to beat them in a given year. We beat Bama last year, we’re nowhere near passing them. USCe beat us last year, they’re nowhere near passing us.

Could lead to really good season next year or could lead to ALOT of problems.

Everyone is stuck just star gazing at the players that are transferring to OM. It could work, or it could turn into another A&M level fiasco if the season doesn't go the way all of these players want to. Their schedule is no cake walk. Let's say they lose to LSU and Oklahoma mid-season. Then what? Maybe some of these mercenaries just mail it in and losses start mounting up. I know I am just speculating but it's not a given that buying an elite roster translates into anything good.

I don't know that he'll be the 1st overall pick anymore. I know most assume that he will currently. But it's a long time until draft day and this was a really good year for QBs. This time last year, you maybe had 3 QBs who graded out as likely 1st round picks in 2024. Now there are maybe 5-6 with 1st round grades.

Caleb didn't have a terrible year, certainly. But I think he definitely hurt the whole "generational talent" title that so many had given him.

It isn’t increasing parity at all. It is still the same 5-10 schools who have a legitimate shot at winning the playoffs. The only way you could have true parity is with a salary cap and draft. That will never happen
Like I said, remains to be seen. Anything that makes it difficult for those top 5-10 to hoard talent on their benches is likely to help increase parity some.
