Transfer QB

I was a little surprised to hear J. Crompton say that UT will bring in a big time transfer QB after the season. What do ya'll think?
Considering the other roster needs, I highly doubt it. There are greater needs on the roster.

I really believe Milton is going to set the college football world on fire next year. If he can consistently hit the deep ball he is going to have a special season next year.

This is a very silly assertion.

It's Milton's team next year period.
Based on? Don't get me wrong...I do hope he's developed to the point that he's going to take this job and run with it. Having said that, he was brought in and coached by this staff to be the starter only to give way to Hooker. He also had ample opportunity at Michigan to win the job yet he transfers out. Not saying he's not capable, but to annoint him at this point is more than a bit premature. A few passes in mop up duty isn't a sample size worthy of such a statement IMO. One other thing to watch would be if a transfer does come our way. If this staff takes another player at QB given Nico, TJ and Milton, I think that speaks volumes.

What we've seen this year and the fact that he'll be going into his third year in this system and the trust from the coaches.

Would have to be an extremely confident guy - Joe Milton and Tayven Jackson are both very talented and very knowledgeable of the system. Nico is a 5-star prospect for a reason, but he will need some time to get up to college game speed. It would have to be a QB starting and dominating somewhere this year and I just don't see that happening. The transfer portal is usually for the guy who finished second in the QB competition.

Only 1 qb on the roster behind Hooker has meaningful playing time. We’ve seen how that worked out.

Never hurts to add competition.

I have a hard time believing Milton has it between the ears. I think that’s his main problem. Very inconsistent too

I don't think Tennessee will ever get another Chuck Webb,Jamal Lewis or Arian Foster.
I wouldn't say that Jethro 😁....there's some good RBs coming out of HS every year...as we continue to win recruiting will get a tad bit easier...all we need is competent coaching..which we have...and a strong O-line...which out coaches will build....I have confidence. I mean look at college football as a whole...there's a LOT of good running backs around the country every year...we just need 1 and some supporting help...I believe Josh is aware and going to get it done in that department.

If he’s got 1 year of eligibility, I could see it.
Would be a stupid decision if the transfer wants to play. Why would someone transfer with only one year left to sit the bench? Most likely if he wants to play they would go somewhere with a higher percent chance to start.

I would trade a QB for 4-5 dbs that can actually cover the slant and the long ball. We good on offense. DL and LBs seem to be pretty good. Secondary is another story. Go Vols!

Not sure I buy it. . . maybe a backup transfer, but I think Tayven Jackson is a good backup. May need a #3 backup, in case TJ and Milton were hurt and Nico is trying to redshirt.

Nobody behind Hooker has shown they are ready to be the #1 QB. If a big time QB wants to transfer here I'm betting we take one. Milton has the potential but I'd have to see him do it vs the better teams on our schedule.

Based on this years play in two games he has done very well. Jackson also looked good in one game. Still limited playing time for both but it gave me confidence for both of them next year as competent Qb’s and not liabilities.

We were a bad team with Milton at QB. He may get a chance next year to prove that he has improved and he can now handle the starting job. He may not. He’ll have to earn it.
Milton 2022 >>>> Milton 2021 from what I have visualized.

Granted limited sample size for 2022, but what I have seen is very promising.

Dude's a pocket passer that needs to tone it down a bit learn "touch" (and looks like he's getting that under control)

He can run some (so could Peyton when necessary LOL)... But flash back to Shuler.

It's been a while since I've seen a pure "power" arm like he's got

JM3 looks like another Shuler..... TN will be fine next year
You are out of your mind.

I hope so.

I like Milton's improvement, but I'm still not 100% sold on him. He may have the strongest arm in college football, but there are still questions about his accuracy and decision-making. Other than his arm strength, I think Hooker is the better QB in almost every way between the two. Optimistic on Milton's progress, but still would rather have more competition in the QB room for '23.
